Ahhh. Gotcha. The newer cables look similar to the HD580 standards, don't they? Still looks so comfy! How much do these guys go for these days? How easy were they to drive?

Sennheiser HD565 Ovation it is great headphones. The truth. Very bad that sennheiser have removed them from manufacture. A highest level of comfort and musicality.

Interesting...

Are those headphones plugged directly into the X10-D? Has the X10-D been modded?

Thanks

The HD-565 was second behind the HD-580 in the early 90's. IMO, the HD-565 is darker, not as details, and more laid back than the HD-580. The presentation was very nice and smooth in my opinion.

It is not simple mod. It absolutely other design.

I recommend.

At me long time were HD580 and HD565 and I preferred 565. In 565 there are same drivers as in 580-600 only on 150 ohm. The sound another but is not worse. Sennheiser like to play in density of foam in front of the driver. I rearranged foam(grill) with 650 on 565 and have been surprised to changes in a sound. Character of a sound 565 moved in 650 and on the contrary.

off
I shall forgive pardons for my English. Tell, it is possible to read that that I have translated to English?

Your quite easy to understand. Are you using a program to translate?

I had the HD565 Ovation and I think it's a beautiful headphone.

Compared to the HD650, they showed a brighter sound, with high precision and quickness, good refinement, good bass (tight, not overweming, extended but a bit dry) and terrific soundstage. Indeed, I think that the quality of the HD565 was very high, on pair with the modern top Sennheiser, only with different balance. But the graininess was as low as the top Senns.

The comfort was one of the best ever.

Really a pity they don't make it anymore: it is one of the best "classical" headphone I've ever heard.

I use the translator and then I correct a little.
Thank. Head-fi.org the interesting forum but I regretted for that that nobody understands my text.

Quality of manufacturing of the case in 565 seems to me that above than at HD650-600-580. Sennheiser in new models have replaced comfort with design. In 580 sennheiser have not wanted to put a metal grid.

I agree that the HD565 was very well build.

Yes, they didn't exhibit the slightly bloated upper bass of the HD580/600.

I agree. When I bought the 595s without auditioning, i was stupid and I was thinking "Well, the model number is higher, the price is higher, so they must sound much better than these old dingy 565s, right?" I was very surprised and saddened that they sounded clearly worse than the 565s. Burning in the phones didn't help much either...

One would think that in the 8-10 years between the two models, Sennheiser made some progress and improved the sound of these 5xx models... but it didn't happen, at least according to my ears.

Yup!

The 5XX series of the HD565 was a very fine sounding series. Maybe one of the best representative series of Sennheiser. The HD565 was also well known among the professionals recording studios for their precision and linearity. The same cannot be said for the HD595 (I mean the presence in the record studios).

I've got a pair of HD545s I've used for the last 5-6 years and I've enjoyed them quite a bit. Based on a few brief auditions, I'd say this family has the same general sound as the 580/600/650, just less refined. The 545s at least are a little lacking in bass but otherwise have a nice, airy sound.

Mine were a steal at around 90 bucks off ebay, although there is some left/right channel imbalance and I've had the usual intermittent cable connection issue.
