...looks like I'll be taking a trip out to BB in the near future. I didn't seriously think they would!

And, of course, not a single Best Buy in my state actually has a pair for demo. How fun.

Forget that, just buy them online. I bought some HD650's from them, tried them for 28 days and took them back to the store for a full refund. Awesome experience and a fantastic way to try out headphones.

This was hopefully in jest and hopefully the way others will interpret it as well.

Do they even have it properly amped ?

Considering that I have yet to hear one of their headphone displays not sound like mud, I'd venture "no."  Still, some leave access to the plugs if you inspect the underside of the shelving.  This allows one to test directly on... whatever kit happens to be on one's person at the time.

why do you hope this was written in jest?

not that i would buy cans just to try them and return them, but i see no problem in taking advantage of a return policy of a big corporation that takes advantage of its customers.

I had an "interesting" experience at a store called Listen UP, which are high end in Colorado and New Mexico.

Their headphone demo setup tapped off of their background music, which to me, was elevator music, almost puts you to sleep. They had HD800/650, GradoPS1000 and some Denon I can't remember models.

The Grado SR60 sounded better than the HD800 and PS1000 I think due to the poor source, more like a portable player.

I'm hearing that Best Buy's are now matching online prices till November 17 and then again from Black Friday to Christmas. Read a couple reports on that last night.

Could be promising for those near a HD800!

I guess that means that the retail price $1500 may fall to the Black Friday price of, oh, $1500. (These phones have proven to be resistant to discount pricing.) But I hope I'm wrong.
