When you say vinyl is very warm I completely understand what you are saying. The sound is warm and very opening. Man I CAN'T WAIT TO LISTEN TO VINYL ON HD600'S !!!!!!

I'll be shocked if you don't love the way it sounds.

Is there really that drastic of a change in sound over the burn in period? If so, isn't the burn in time about 100 hours or something?
I experienced no noticeable burn-in. The pads might break in becoming more soft, which might bring them closer to the ear making things fuller, but i haven't noticed any change.

So I pretty much got a thumbs up on the receiver. I've been talking to some people over on audio karma who know there stuff and they told me the 6800's big brother (7800) could handle phones between 8ohms and 10,000 ohms. Both of them said the 600's will definitely sound great with the 6800.

Keep in mind, handling and sounding correct are two different things.  It will probably sound great, but they might have simply meant it provides enough power.  I would just try it and see how they sound. :)  It would have to have pretty high output impedance to make it sound "bad".

Geeez. I'm back reading this entire thread right now and realizing the 600's and 650's have gone up in price recently. Someone got the 650's for what I paid for the 600's a couple days ago and that was with a 20% coupon!! When did the spike happen?

My hd600 were $400 back when I got them.  They're $400 now on amazon http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=hd600

If you saw them cheaper they must have been on sale and the sale is over...  That's the standard price.

Ya someone apparently got HD650's for $320 on amazon. If I ever see that on amazon I'll be tempted to snatch a pair just to get the deal.

Anyway, my 600's should be here in a couple of days and I'm getting pretty excited. I already wrote up a test run of some of my favorite vinyl records that covers a wide range of genres:

1) Radiohead – Kid A
2) M83 – Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming
3) Sigur Ros – Agoetis byrjun
4) Pink Floyd – Dark Side of the Moon
5) The Beach Boys – Pet Sounds
6) Tool – Lateralus
7) Sufjan Stevens – Illinois
8) Radiohead – OK Computer
9) Miles Davis – Some Kind of Blue
10) Daft Punk – Random Access Memories

Nice, nice.  I'd call that a medium range of genres  but it's all good.  I love #10.  One of my favorite albums and audio testing material.

Haha Ya you're right. I don't have any classical vinyl yet and only one electronic album and I don't listen to rap or country so I guess I am missing more than a few.

I'm already getting worried though. Like I made the wrong decision in picking 600 over 650. Some review on headfonia said the 650 had a more 3-dimensional sound and that it's listed as the #3 headphone here at head-fi?

Edit: I guess #1 actually. Really it all comes down to personal preference and I guess I'll know for sure when I get them. I definitely like my bass to have a presence, but I don't want it to be overpowering. Hopefully that's what I bought.

Bass on the HD600 is quite good. When the song is bassy it will sound quite bassy, when the song is bass light it will sound bass light. It's not like some other headphones that always sound bassy or always sound bass light regardless of the song.
