What's the difference beetween these two cans?

On amazon they only have £10 difference...is it worth going for the 650 over the 600?

When I buy either they will both be unamped for at least 6 months...

i would go with the 650s, they are better, worth the 10 p[ounds, and in 6 moths, with a proper amp, they will shine. i dont really know much about the difference unamped.

Unamped will not be ideal. They'll both sound OK, but not anywhere near their full potential. Snap comparison, the HD600 is more neutral, and the HD650 is a bit darker and has fuller midbass-midrange.

I think it is win/win honestly. I feel the HD650 is smoother and more refined, but the HD600 is very musical and lets Diana Krall slide right into bed with you.. if you are into that sort of thing.

HD650 are better headphones, but You must have a good amp and sound source.

definitely 650 under "ideal conditions"
assuming "new" 650 AND 600 (white/silver silks)

i have both (and i still have both), i can see why people prefer the 600 to the 650.

i think the 600 sounds a little bit dry and i like the 650's mids better (the main reason i prefer the 650)

(600 is a little too harsh in mids, i might even argue that it is a FLAW rather than a coloration).

maybe you can get something that works fine unamped, but better amped, like grados? running headphones with such high impedance unamped is definetely not good.
