Thanks for the tweak. I just tried the foam tips but I don't really like it because it makes the soundstage smaller and the sound a bit dark to my taste. I will wait for the jvc sprial tips and give an update later.

BTW got my pair 2 weeks ago and today I found out about this crack.

I have the same crack! Yesterday i was taking some pictures for my review and noticed the same crack in the same spot. Will post a picture when i get home.

I also got the "new" packaging (bought mine december 2014, so not sure if it's the same new Havi as you all have) and fortunately no cracks. I baby them though!

Off all the stocks tips that come with it, my favorite are actually the medium clear tips. They are very soft and comfortable that I don't mind having them in my ears all day.
 
The medium regular black tips fit me the best aside from the clear ones. I'd like to try out the spiral dots. What size should I get?

~ 2.25 years old, first version that came in a small plastic box, no cracks. Have just barely used them though.

My guess is that the cracks appear due to tension in the plastic when it expands and contracts again: putting the IEMs in the ears, they heat up and therefore the plastic on the thin part near the screw expands. Once removed, they cool down (and so does the plastic). Over time, tension might build up and cause the plastic to break on its weakest part.

  Why the ML over the M?

 
 Because JVC spiral dots are a bit smaller than the stock tips. You can see the size/dimension info on the description page. Measure your tips and buy the one which fits. 
 

1. 5 sizes: S (approx. 10mm), MS (approx. 11mm), M (approx. 12mm), ML (approx. 13mm), L (approx. 14mm)

 Mine also has a small crack on the right side even even though I baby them. Looks like a production failure.
