*I do not want to use Roon as I find it too expensiveGuys sorry to interrupt in the discussion.. I must ask .. as most of you say that LAN is the best way to go with the r26 . So all my possibilities are tidal connect an qubuz? I mean with tidal connect I don't get even to hi res which when I connect usb it says hi res. So with LAN we are doomed to lower rate ? Thanks .

Well there’s bubbleUPnP and Mconnect for Apple, but they’re pretty lame. Before I started using Roon I used JPlay for ios and it was fantastic. There are other players out there depending on your gear….*I do not want to use Roon as I find it too expensive
I tried jplay it has so many bugs unfortunately. Sometimes it works and sometimes not sometimes song starts after 30 secs , sometimes song stops in the middle.. my internet is very stable .Well there’s bubbleUPnP and Mconnect for Apple, but they’re pretty lame. Tbh I think jplay sounds better then tidal connect at least to my ears

Use LMS, but it has currently only Tidal at 16/44, but development is ongoing. And it's for free. But LAN works with Tidal connect, they say

Roon over a decade before Roon. Formerly Logitech Media Server, now Lyrion Media Server, maintained by its users. Search for the slimdevices forum on the net for more info.Sorry but what is LMS ?
I didn't even realize that Tidal Connect wasn't giving MAX! Going back and forth I still think the LAN sounds better at CD quality. Is there a way to do LAN at MAX or is it a limitation of the internal streamer?Guys sorry to interrupt in the discussion.. Will Roon play MAX bitrate over LAN? I may have to try that again. I just personally prefer staying inside the Tidal OS to operate things. I don't like adding extra layers since I'm 100% streaming vs owning a library of files in addition to streaming.
Ok, I googled and I think I'm up to speed on it. After they removed MQA and went to FLAC they have yet to update the Tidal Connect tech to support above CD quality FLAC. They say it is coming this year fingers crossed. So, what I'm remembering it doing was MQA - which I honestly thought sounded great most of the time. I'm bummed that got trashed.
Is anyone using the U18 instead of LAN? I haven't tested that out, but I have been curious if it could make the USB connection rival the LAN. Any firsthand experiences with it?
The internal streamer can handle a lot more than your typical streaming high-res of 192Khz.. can do upscaled PCM768 from HQplayer all day long.
The internal streamer is the bang-for-buck performance-cost king from my experience. Here's where it sat in my final leaderboard, best first:
**Using a low noise network chain, FMCs and switch with LPS etc
EDIT - added a couple more options tried.

You didn't even mention only LAN with tidal connect (after the last firmware update )
Never tried it, needed new firmware I wasn't motivated to install. Other R26 streaming options like Roon, Bubble UPnP and Jplay were solid but not quite at the level of the R26 HQP NAA, around the level of the U18* give or take IIRC.You didn't even mention only LAN with tidal connect (after the last firmware update )
Oh man this is great! I looked them up. No clock support for the Innuous though huh?The internal streamer can handle a lot more than your typical streaming high-res of 192Khz.. can do upscaled PCM768 from HQplayer all day long.

Did you use the U18 off of a clock as well?
edit: nm I see you had a separate line for when you used it with a clock. Was the disparity between the U18 and the LHY option large or relatively close? Wondering if it is similar to the switches were they can be brought close with reasonable fuse upgrades like the Gustard ceramic ones.
