Sorry that didn’t work out. Hopefully you can get multiple network connections with the MacBook Pro.
Actually, What I'm trying to do is more than connecting the R26 to the Mac.
I'm trying to do the following:

Mac Mini M1
- Mac Mini M1 WiFi (for router to Internet)
- Mac Mini M1 Ethernet Port > Switch/FMC (to which is also connected a Rapseberry Host) > EtherREGEN > DIY audiophile switch (to which are connected a streamer and the R26).

And it does not work.
To make it work, I need to connect the Switch/FMC to the LAN of the router.

So my Fiber Optic media converter arrived today consisting of:
10Gtek Gigabit Fiber Media Converter w/ Pair of Bidi SFP Singlemode Simplex LC Module (Kit #5)
10Gtek OS2 LC to LC Duplex Fiber Patch Cable 0.5m
TOPPING P50 LPS
USB Type A Male to 90 Degree Barrel Connector Charging Cable 5.5 x 2.5mm DC 5V 80cm
Veetop Ethernet LAN Cat 8 RJ45 Cable 0.25

Initial Impressions: Uplift in resolution, separation, blacker background, a bit more analog(?) to my system.
Verdict: For 220Eur total, yes a keeper.

Pics or did not happen:

Is it better to use the USB port of the Topping p50 or the DC barrel port. With the USB port are you "under," powering the FMC and with the DC barrel port could you be over powering it. Which is best to make sure you are not destroying the FMC. I will only be powering one FMC into the Topping p50 NOT both. I have the P50 coming.

Those of you who want to buy FMC, you can go for a model like this one that costs only €34 for both converters:

https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/ethe...net-optical-fiber-converter-pair-p-13759.html

In addition, you'll have to buy fiber cable for €6-€9, depending on the length that you need.

I was using such a model during a year. Then I changed for a model with one of the FMCs being a switch, because I have 3 servers, and recently I changed for FMC with SFP modules, because I bought EtherREGEN.
For the sound, they are all the same…

@duffer5

Use USB for 5V

Read product specs please.
10Gtek FMC power supply is 5V 1.0A.
Topping P50 output is USB-A x 2: 5'V 1.0A, OR USB-A x 2: 5V 0.8A and 5.5mm x 2.1mm 5V 0.8A
You mentioned TP-Link. TP-Link FMC requires a 9V 0.6A

Okay. The T-Link is 9 volts. I have changed my order to the Gtek. Thanks for the help.

R2R DAC should stay permanently turned on, not standby
If left permanently on, then would that not shorten the life of the OLED display? Which is impossible to turn completely off....

I've given that some thought too, so I tend to turn it off at night and turn it on casually sometime during the day so it has at least an hour or two to warm up. If I forget to turn it off I don't sweat it. would be great if the OLED went into sleep mode after some time of non-use, but my personal list of Shangri-la wishes is long enough so.....

I think OLED should last for at least 3-4 years
I’ve never turned mine off.
By then they will have the R86 out lol

Following up on the post from @BShaw yesterday re: his email to Gustard on the firmware upgrade process, I sent an email to them myself today letting them know I was an interested buyer but was concerned about the firmware update process. They responded as follows:

hi Nick

thank you for your mail

and

happy new year !

It will be upgradable under macOS.

Later we will publish firmware in a one-click way for both A26&R26.

best regards

I had read your previous post and was aware of the UTM option. That has certainly worked for you but that also requires that you have a version of Windows available to install. You are obviously technically proficient so it doesn’t seem like a big deal to you. My real issue is that is shouldn’t be this difficult to update firmware.

Edit: I see that Windows XP is free so that means you don’t have to purchase a copy of Windows. Sorry for overlooking that.
Go to the UTM site and go to the library section there are full versions of windows to use, I'd pick winXP it's only 650mb to install. It is pretty straight forward and painless to do. No having to get hold of a windows operating system everything is on the site. It shouldn't be this hard I agree, but it's always been like this for Mac users........

I know…I’m a big baby! I installed UTM on a MacBook Air yesterday and will install XP today. May be able to use it to program my Harmony remote as well.

Very good news from Gustard:
"Hi

In the near future we will release a new UI for the settings menu with better visual effects.

At the same time, add the function of OLED off and some new features.

We need enough testing to make sure the program is perfect before releasing it.

Best regards"

That's great stuff - now all you need is a PhD in computer science to install the updates.
