Hi I have this combo.. I think its great.. Before H26 I paired the R26 with S17pro - less air, space and holography and with Mentor - it seemed to me too bright with my Arya Organics, but the Mentor is really great amp too... With Aryas it works great to my ears...
I see, i'm sorry what brand is the mentor? I don't know it
And thank you for your answer

It is Flux brand.. You will find really great reviews hear on headfi, and I agree with them.., it was littlebit overkill for my aryas, and also the Gustard combo looks great😀

If anyone is interested, I have a repaired DAC Gustard R26. I am very happy. One OPA component was bad for €3. A service technician I know did it for me for €100 with a complete diagnosis and measurement. Several things had to be flown away to identify the error. But I am glad that I don't have to send it anywhere, I had it in my city of residence. The component could not be identified at first, so they wrote back to me within a few hours from AudioPhonic France which OPA component they had identified. Gustard only responded after two days with the same identification.

Hi new here I've had the R26 for a year had great fun upgrading it with external clock and fmc using N18 pro. I've used many RCA interconnects to connect to my pre amp(NAC 282). I think I've found the best, mogami 2803. They are very transparent and really let the R26 shine, to start with the sound was very flat and lacked dynamic range but after a week of constantly running oh boy these interconnects are special. Holographic soundstage and analogue signature of the R26 are stunning now. Changing to these interconnects has made by far the biggest improvement in sound quality I've heard yet and with a burn in of 300-500 hrs before they sound there best there's more to come yet.

That’s great cable, haven’t had it in my system for some time but it’s in another league from the standard pro grade Mogami stuff. And 10x the price too!

I am making unshielded, balanced interconnects out strands of Nordost Valhalla Silver plated Copper in air/ Teflon dielectric.

Ask for bulk wire with no connectors

Hi, I connected the USB M1T to the R26 and it stopped clicking Gustard. I would like to stay with M1T but after usb the sound is worse than after coax or i2s.
What do you suggest? Maybe I don't know something?

Hello,
hoping to get some clarification concerning 10 Mhz connection. I have the following components: Gustard R 26 (DAC), Gustard N18 (network switch), Gustard N18 Pro (network switch), Gustard U18 (ddc) and Gustard C16 (10Mhz clock). The DAC, network switch and ddc all have 10Mhz input. I had all three connected to the external clock. Someone told me if I am using I2s connection from the ddc to the DAC (which I am) that the DAC should run without the bnc connected and set to internal clock. The ddc should be connected to clock with bnc and set to external clock and the N18 Pro connected to external clock. Does this sound right?
Thanks in advance.

The DAC will use the clock signal from the U18 over the i2s connection so just leave the R26 set to external clock. I'm using the same set up except C18 instead of C16. If the i2s is the only input you're using then you can set the R26 to internal and disconnect it from the external clock. Either way the R26 will use the clock signal from the U18 over i2s.

The above is accurate if PCM NOS or DSD Direct is set to ON, the R26 refers only the clock signal received from a synchronous source, with the external clock referred only for the asynchronous ethernet and USB sources. However a connected external clock is referred by the R26 for all inputs (including synchronous sources like I2S) when R26 is doing internal oversampling ie. NOS OFF. This per a clarification from Gustard over email a while back.

Hi, I think I have an unusual problem that perhaps someone can help with here?
My brother and I share a place and both have r26 dacs. I'm running the 1.43 mac address fix firmware. I'm not sure which he is running?
When I use Spotify Connect it only shows one gustard renderer to stream to. I've tried changing the name of the devices on my router and they both have separate IP address obviously.
How can I get it to show both dacs as separate devices on the same network? If there's no way can it be done via a firmware tweak?
Thanks for your help.

Changing the name on the router won't help. In the case of Tidal Connect, the name is saved in the system files, and it will probably be the same for Spotify. I'll look at the files and maybe I can prepare a firmware with the changed name.
