Did you notice a worthwhile improvement by adding a U18 to your R26? Trying to decide if I should.
Yes I did. I want to say it's the best bang for the bucks improvement. Everything got more musical, as in the tones were better. I was able to hear more separations in instruments, tighter bass, and more sizzles in the highs (better air). You can say it was like getting a full upgrade.

adding to that, the soundstage didn't really open up for me. I was running a Monoprice USB cable. I recently added the AudioQuest Cinnamon USB cable just for laugh and giggle to see if a cable would make a difference and the soundstage was blown wide open. It sounds so good right now. The USB cable is a keeper. I want to try their most expensive USB cable one day tho, since this cable was that good.

Hello,

I found it makes a difference between the 2.5 and 3.15 a/T fuse.

Gustard answered me when I asked if it made a difference and they said the 2.5 is more standard orientation and 3.15 is audiophile orientation.

Personally, I would like to confirm that it does make a difference, except that I used the Refine fuse, which is not expensive.
And the added value of the 3.15 is a little more bite in the bass, a little warmer and more powerful midrange and a tougher low end.

I have had the 3.15 fuse in for a week now and will do another A/B at the weekend.

By the way, it makes sense to replace the standard fuse in the DDC.
However, I would like to point out that the fuse market can also bring certain sound colouration.
This can bring advantages and disadvantages depending on the situation, and a lot of it is down to your own initiative and where the borderline is for everyone personally.

The Refine, for example, is a fuse that does not colour the sound like the Hifituning if we stay in the similar price range.

The Refine, for example, improves the timing a little better, and opens more.
It is a good fuse for the R26 and compared to the standard fuse it was exactly what the R26 lacked in polish, but that is my personal ankedote.

I think one should go to the 3.15 if there is already the possibility to get out a little more performance, especially if it is supported by the manufacturer.

Cool. I ordered an SR Purple, along with Gustard upgrade fuses to try. Will do some comparisons once everything is setup and report back.

Looking forward to it! 🙌

Sorry, try again - 10:00 mark:

I wish someone would do a comparison video of the R26 with a DDC. Is the U18 the best to go with here? Or should I do something different, or add an external clock?

I'm getting in over my head but I see the Gustard U18 is on sale presently. Can someone please provide me with a link to where I can purchase the i2s cable that will correctly join the U18 to the R26? Thanks!
Any decent HDMI cable from Amazon will work perfectly. Go for an 8K one - less than £30.

The good thing about the U18 and Gustard product is they use regular HDMI protocol/standards, as there is no real standard for I2S and other company may have theirs setup differently. A regular HDMI would work on any Gustard. The best bang for the bucks Audio HDMI that I have seen come up a lot and being discussed is the Blue Jeans FE HDMI cable, which is cheaper on Amazon vs getting it directly from Blue Jeans Cable website. Hope this helps.

The Ares II and Iris combination is insanely great value for money. Just so musical.

I wish the R26 was made by a company that didn't rhyme with custard. It really puts me off. I want to try one still to see if the hype is justified. May go for Amazon, then I can return it.

But chocolate frozen custard is one of my favorite things in the world. Dang.

That's what I did. Ordered from Amazon to try, and will return to buy a Spring 3 if I don't love it.

That nice. I only wished we are able to buy everything all at once and do A/B test to really see the difference. Take this with a grain of salt but I read a few time that owners of Terminator Plus did A/B test with the R26, and ended up sellng the Terminator Plus, and keeping the R26. If that is saying anything.
