Greatest Grunge Vocalist Ever - Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder, Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, ... ?

I hate arguing over who's best, but I voted for Cornell because he has the greatest vocal range and control of the bunch... not really sure I'd call any of his music "grunge" though. I hate that term in reference to music.

i almost put courtney in my mini-list as well, preferring 'live through this' to all of the nirvana output.

but while oggranak has convinced me to grudgingly accept pearl jam as grunge band (are the foo fighters?), i'm still not ready to see vedder as grunge singer... he has the heart, but does he have the style?

Foofighters definitely not but Perl Jam were one of the earliest grunge bands so belong in that genre for sure. I don't think I bought a Perl Jam album after Ten so don't know what their later output was like.

IMO not even a 10th as talented as Staley was.
