So crazy thing, I hold my hand on my Can, and the volume control becomes completely silent. I remove the hand, I can hear the potentiometer crackling. Of course this happens only while actually turning the knob

What is this phenomenon?

Guys you should try the zen can as pre amp on your speakers. Very enjoyable with both xbass and 3D enabled, good for games and movies too with both enabled!

Ifi made too much noise with the Drop Signature thing now we can't find reviews about it's sound. All people talk is their eq. Someone can compare this to Asgard 3, THX 789, Magnius etc... ? I see this is small product. THX 789 power supply is bigger than this lol. How it works out ? I actually noticed this amp optimized for higher impedance headphones. It outputs less power at low ohm. How is it's current capability for low impedance planar headphones ?

can one connect the 4.4mm output of a DAP to the 4.4mm input of the Zen Can ..... those outputs on the DAP are powered to drive headphones - so does the inputs on the Can compensate for that - so the potential system would be DAP --> 4.4mm to 4.4mm cable --> Zen Can --> headphones - would this work decently

This is how mine is set up and it runs beautifully. Dx 220 Max > IFI Zen Can>Stellia/Utopia

Yes, you can use it that way (3.5 to 3.5 cable into the zen can, and 4.4 output to headphone)

I don't have much experience with amps and understand how it all works.
I own the Sony MDR-Z1R and currently use them with my WM1A and I was hoping to take them up a level with an amp. Ideally something like the TA-ZH1ES would do but they are really expensive and I have to look at lower priced options until maybe next year when I can afford a secondhand one.
I hear people say that even though the Z1R are easy to drive they improve with more power - would the Zen Can offer that power and specs?. I understand synergy is important, are there any MDR-Z1R users that can share their impressions please? or at least tell me I'm looking in the wrong direction.
How would this compare to desktop ones like the THX AAA or Topping amps?

It's disappointing that Ifi still haven't made 4.4mm interconnect cable available. I have to dig deep for these. Drop 4.4mm cable price is insult. They have lots of gimmicky products yet they don't sell something like 4.4mm>XLR headphone cable adapter, 4.4mm<XLR interconnect, 4.4mm<4.4mm interconnect which is necessary for their Zen products.
