That's an insane deal for the RS-1, I'd definitely keep them. From hearing almost all of the current Grado line, the RS-1/i has the most "magic" to the sound whereas the 225 is the safe middle ground while keeping all of the excitement intact. Then there are specialist models like the ultra-aggressive SR325is and the relatively bassy HF2.

yep i think you are right, I will keep them!  I am getting used to the sound now and the big difference was when i converted my music to FLAC and amped my headphones...made the music sound so smooth!  And I could actually tell apart this from the 225's!  I also agree the 225's can get fatiguing after awhile and I do find it more comfortable with the RS1's for extended listening periods.  I am also thinking of changing my cowon to an ipod..do you know if apple lossless will sound as good as FLAC??

Welcome to the Grado addiction ... I've gone back and forth with Grados for years and now own a pair of 225i. They really are superb and very precise in the high and mid with an efficient bass (much more efficient than the 60, as you found out). However, I'm getting the itch to try something else out ... maybe a pair of Senn HD600s?

Stay with Cowons, to my ears Apple Lossless sounds identical to FLAC. Plus with Cowons you don't have to subject yourself to the torture of using the bloated iTunes.

I dont mind itunes, I find the store really good actually.  I dont see why Cowon doesn't have lineout though?  So I reckon ipod touch with lineout will sound better?
I am addicted to Grados now, its the perfect sound signiture suited to my type of music!  MUCH better than by senns....may sell em
