Grados SR60 VS HD497 for indie rock

With a name like "emokid", i don't think you'll throw anyone with your "obscure" bands. This is a music-lover's forum afterall.

Grados sound incredible with rock music.

I agree with that sentiment. There's killer impact and punch to be had with that combo that I doubt the HD497 could match without some serious mods ala Eddie Van Halen style. I've actually used the modded 414 pads on a pair of SR125's and I'd swear that between the 414 pads and the stock bowls, these were two totally different headphones. I like the 414 better of course. It's a little harsh when very loud, but makes up for all the areas that the bowls failed in, including bass. The treble is also not as bright, things are balanced out to the point that only the Flats do better.
