they will work, but that would be the equivalent of putting a scooter engine in a ferrari.
You will not appreciate the music wholly, and the detail of the rs2s will be lost.
I strongly suggest getting at least a portable amp and pair it with a LOD. They come pretty cheap nowadays.
Also, do not use mp3s in your ipod.
Get an app like golden ear or flac player or rerip all your library to ALAC
