Is that headband aftermarket or factory?
Curious.
It looks like the Turbulent Labs "brown manta" headband.

Is that the Chord Hugo? Didn't think it's that huge!

PLEASE let us know if your impressions on both your RS1e and Hugo. Very interested on both.
I've been using Hugo for the the last 4 months as my main system stand alone dac and also as my headphone amp - mostly for my 325i. The critically acclaimed hugo is just as brilliant as it gets. The RS1e arrived last week (replacing the 325i which unfortunately suddenly broken down) and they're now begining to open up, but can already tell how wonderful and incredibly telanted they are - amazing with rock music!. The brown headband is indeed factory (i bought the RS1e on grado.com) and came as a big suprise since the one's on display had always been black.

Maybe they had some brown headbands left over from the limited Grado Bushmills model ...
I received a pair of RS1e in the last 10 days and they also have the brown band from the factory. I'm actually very pleased as the band looks incredible with the wood on the cans.

Not sure why grado are doing this perhaps to prop up sales?
I hope that the fact that Grado makes all these unadvertized changes, will clear up why some of us are saying that the L and G earpads that we got on our e series, were different than those of the i serie.
By the way, if they are indeed using the Bushmills X's tan head band, that's great, because it has even thicker padding, an softer leather than my HP1000.
I'm sorry, but even Stevie Wonder would be able to see that the ear pads on page 1 are different. And to those who don't see the difference, you should seriously consider getting yourself a guide dog.![]()
As I have said before, I think that the first e series were shipped with the old pads. Just like some i serie were shipped with the new red driver.
So, do the RS1e's now have different pads than the RS1i's had?
(Because indeed, the pads on both headphones were the same
when I had them about a week after the official release of the 1e's.)
Also looks like grado ran out of those mystical Brooklyn mahogany trees and are now using the standard mahogany the rest of the world grows. I doubt his has substantial tone aspects compared to if/what they are using as a finish, in particular what is used on the inside. Regarding that, I'd recommend people try what joe does to the inners of his metal cups (goop criss cross ridge patterned adhesive caulk application - helps tame some upper end grado siblance/odd reflections)
The “i” wooden models and chambers were Australian Jarrah.
