Its easy to see why you feel that way. IMHO there are some things the MS2 can do that the RS1 can not. The MS2 image is much less in your head sounding... theres still center stage, its just not as aggressive as the RS1. IMHO that is the biggest difference.

i totally agree with you. even though the rs1 have the best soundstage out of all the grados that i've heard, the ms2 was tweaked differently from the prestige or reference series and is able to project a sense of spaciousness. going back and forth between the ms2 and rs1, you really get a sense of the of the rs1's tighter stage, forward midrange and colored sound. going from the rs1, the ms2 sound a bit thin at first but imo they're more balanced.

I got the SR225 about six months ago. This was my first Grado purchase. Heard the RS-1 a few months after, but not long enough to reach any solid conclusions beside I liked them and thought they were pricey.

Anyway, the SR225s offer a nice change-up from my HD650s. The SR225 are the only cans I've heard so far that really do justice to the way an electric guitar actually sounds. Usually puts a smile on my face

. With the SR225 I primarily listen to rock/pop, which they are very well suited for.

With the particular (Russian made) tubes in my X-Can, yes I do prefer the 325i over HD650/Zu. But I prefer the HD650/Zu with my CIAudio's VHP-1/VAC-1.

I tend to listen to Rock & Trance on X-Can / 325i combo and everything else on CIAudio / HD650/Zu combo.

MS2i, SR80, HF1 #281 stolen in transit.
I had figured on an RS1 this year (before getting the MS2is) but now I'll work on my source/amp combo with my Alessandros before considering anything else.

Currently the RS-1 is the only grado I own. But in regards of price/performance I have never seen a better phone than Alessandro MS1.

Well, I have had almost every Grado, but currently have the SR225. It is a fantastic set of cans! Probably the best Grado I have heard, other then the RS-1.

Down the road, I hope to eventually obtain a HP-1000, and/or a PS-1!

Top Honors here (in the current production line, bring back HP-1000's!!)

RS-1's

and the cans that kicked it all off, SR-225's. Still got them, I can't bare to let them go, although I think I might have to and get another flavour... or save for those HP-1000's!!

I jumped from the 125 to the hf-1 and thats as far as I go I think. I don't think I can justify spending more than $200 on a grado can, but I'm happy where I am.

I started from the bottom and went directly to "nearly" the top...

I bought the SR-60 around ten years ago, a couple of years after it was first introduced. It was my first "good" headphone.

Ten years later, I purchased the MS-Pro and still have it. I've also owned the RS-1 (3 times!) in the past, including the now infamous "late Friday" edition.
