Grado GH-1 Discussion

That is a good way to describe the difference, but, the GH1 bass improved with age (or so it seemed).

Of the Grados I have owned, it ranks behind the PS1000 and slightly ahead of the PS500e.

I would agree. I've owned pretty much every John Grado headphone released (maybe not every "revision" like the i or e), but looks we hear it quite similarly.

I never minded getting older…now I know why.

Seriously though, with some recordings, those GH1/G shure give my PS1k, a run for their money.

To me the GH1 w/G have a warmer tonality which IMO makes them Genre friendly and much more forgiving.

Very glad I own both.

Me too, and they're not going anywhere soon!

To my ears, the GH1, either with its original pad or the G Cush, had MORE sub bass than the PS1000e or PS1000.

Where would the GS2000e fit into this graph?

I have not yet had the chance to hear the GS2000e and evaluate it against other Grados, so I don't know.

From folks who have heard it, they say it is like the GS1000i but with more bass.  The GS1000i is top on my list (as well as the RS2e for an on-ear), with a mark-down being because of less bass than some other Grados.  Hence, the GS2000e, when I do get to hear it, may end up on top!

I am on Todd The Vinyl Junkie's "Tour" for the GS2000e where it goes around the country and spends a week at each person who signed up a few months ago.  So I will get one eventually to try.  However, there are several people ahead of me, so I am not sure when.

I'll be looking forward to your impressions.  Keep me in the loop.

I actually had a problem with mine - one of the drivers caught a buzz, so to speak.  Sent them back to Grado and they fixed them under warranty.  Just got them back today and they are back to their glorious self again!  I also replaced the Ortofon 2M Black on my VPI Prime with a Grado Statement Reference 2.  I know this might come as a surprise, but the Grado cartridge and the Grado headphones sound REALLY good together!!!

I received an email newsletter from 4OurEars today... apparently they have some GH-1 headphones available and claim that once these are gone, they're gone...

Just thought some here may be interested.
