I am very intersted in this amp but there is almost non existant information about it. I want to use this with my Galaxy Note phone..will work with ICS I hope..I also must say the blue version looks VERY good..I must admit I did fall in love with this amp first time I saw it..but the question is does it sound as good as it looks ?

Would love to hear more feedback/opions...I need something to motivate to pay this much cash...
But I have the sense that this might be the FIRST usb dac that actually sounds very good...
I trust GoVibe... I have the V7 amp..which sounded very good for the price... so let's just say my expectations for this
Porta Tube+ is EXTREME, I expect something that makes my hair rise.. anyway.. I still little bit sceptic to buy an usb amp..I know these amps usually do not get much respect here...

It sounds great! That's all I can say after listening to it at Jaben's. I was very impressed. But it is long time ago now so I do not remember any detailed sound information. I also only heard the version without USB DAC.

Correct me on my understanding:

You will need the DAC for example when your source is a PC and when you want to bypass the soundcard. For portable use, you do not need the DAC right?

$799?!? More expensive than a Ray Samuels SR71B (ok, No DAC) or Fostex HP-P1?

Well it is specifically the usb dac version I am interested in. I do not doubt the analog version sounds amazing.

It is especially for portable use I need an usb dac. The soundchip in my Samsung Galaxy note is not good enough and do not make my headphones sound to it's full potential... simply I want a very good sound for portable use...and no I prefer to not buy an mp3 player.

Android 4.0 will be released in Q1 2012, which will make it possible to connect usb devices like it was on a PC for instance an usb dac...
I think this will be the ultimate portable solution...if this Govibe amp/dac live up to my expectations... if not I need to look for other solutions...

Yes it will make a big hole in my wallet that is for sure...but I try to think long term and alos consider how many hours per day I will listen to music on it...if you consider the amount of hours it is really a small price to pay.. Also have heard the DT1350 responds very well to amplification... and make it sound even "bigger".

Wow! A little high and are they suppose to be competing with ALO? It is a tube portable amp after all...

In an age when everything is getting smaller I am not sure the adoption that "bigger is better" is always true...
Sure when it comes to tube amps it might be physical limitations...a certain tube has a certain size etc..
but yeah..we will see...I guess the insane price gives the high expectations also..

To the OP:

Just listened to it today, but not for too long; they're very smooth and non-fatiguing. Quite the pleasant experience. It's nice that it'll run on pure USB power or a 16V DC, so it's truly portable if you want, or desktop worthy on a power source. It also had no problems with 24/96 off WASAPI for Foobar. Nicely made too. Good stuff all around, but the price is a little steep, don't you think?

Well, don't know about the SR71B, but the HP-P1 can't do computer USB, it only does iPods; for computers, it only does S/PDIF

I'm a newbie (first post here) - so please forgive any comments which may sound odd....

Ive had my porta tube+ for about 3 weeks now... Got it from the excellent guys at Jaben Singapore... top service there....

I primarily use it for my bedside table (ALO - iphone (plane mode)) and work (USB from macbook pro) -  I tried to use it a couple of time on the go, but it wasn't really that portable and if you move too much the tubes make some noise.... I bought an iBasso D-Zero for on the go... but once I got used to the tube sound... the D-Zero isn't really cutting it... albeit very portable....

so... I would have much preferred if the casing was black like the non-DAC version... not a huge fan of the blue... but hey .. its the sound that matters...

I have two power supplies... one by my bedside and one at work ... so I'm mostly running this with the power supply on...

I prefer my sounds warm and lush... I don't mind loosing a bit of detail... but I do like some soundstage... I mostly hear using DT 77 pro while in bed so I don't disturb my wife... closed cans have its benefits... , which are very warm.... at work I use my Shures 530.... I've been playing with getting the Sennheisers IE8 for work...

I've ordered and I"m waiting for my Senn 650HD... Already have moon audio silver dragon V3 cables for it ... just waiting.... I tried the porta tube at Jaben with the senn 650 and they sounded amazing to my musical taste........ with good bass, but not muddy or overblown.... a tiny little veil, which I'm hoping the Silver Dragon cables will correct... if it doesn't, it doesn't matter... its 99% to my taste...... my old Senns 595 (first issue back in 2000...) have a driver problem on the left hand can, and its in for an overhaul ... I like the 595's but they don't have enough bass for me... but its an old friend...

into the music... I mostly listen to ambient (Marconi Union, etc.), Jazz (Miles Davis, etc) and Vocals (Bossa Nova, Nick Cave, Aimee Mann, Natalie Merchant, etc..) ...

Funnily enough, I think the portatube is quite forgiving on compressed 256k AAC stuff.... I have a few of those, however most of my music is ALAC (XRCD, K2HD, SACD) and a few 24/96 downloads from Linn Record (Marconi Union & others) and HD Tracks....

couldn't tell much difference in sound from ALAC to good 256k AAC (non complex music) .... however I can easily tell ALAC from 24 bit HD music..... primirely the depth and ambiance.... the Porta Tube makes everything sound like honey.... going back and trying a govibe Vest, Martini+ or the iBasso Dzero makes most of the music sound flat, up front and 'digital' ...... on their own, each of these amps are good... but once you are used to the tube lushness.... hard to go back ...

so, big fan of the porta tube plus.... the problem now is that my DacMagic plus (used on my HT set up) albeit good, is not giving me the same feeling I get from my porta Tube (the porta tube is a little more expensive than the Damagic plus) ..... so now I'm investigating adding a Woo Audio WA2 to my HT/Stereo set up.....

it is an expensive hobby......

A few good ears here in Japan have tested this out, too, and found it to be very pleasing. I'll be heading to Tokyo to check it out at Avic or Musica Acoustics. I wonder, can you use it in a pocket without the unit or your pocket getting too warm?

I'm getting a lot of interest in GoVibe Amp especially the "Portable Tube".
Does anyone can share the background about GoVibe? Does GoVibe is China company?
I try to google but no much information about this company. However I can see Jaben.com sells a lot of amp/dac with GoVibe brand.
