Point me in the direction of a good IEC socket. I've been using a standard, cruddy IEC socket without a fuse holder, and now that I'm ready to case up my DAC, I need a "good," quality one. Any suggestions? I'm not really sure how much of a difference this will make, aside from offering the protection of a fuse, so don't recommend me some extravagant "audiophile quality" socket.

Thanks,
Tri

I don't have the make or model on me (I'm at work), but I pick up IEC jacks with an onboard RFI filter at the local electronics shop for $3.50 each. I know I've seen similar jacks at Mouser around the same price. I don't know if the RF filterimg makes that much of a difference, but it's only a couple dollars moreand it can't hurt. The jacks with fuse holders are handy, but I've always liked separate fuse holders.

I kinda like the Bulgin PF0001/63

161-PF0001/63

Although the Qualtek's with the built in line filters are pretty cool to.

I really like the Schaffner units, and have used the FN282 and FN284 in my builds. DPDT switch, built in filters, double fused - all in one unit. Pricey, but worth it.

RS first time round, Farnell second. I'd recommend Farnell.
