Hi and thanks for looking.

I am considering the Gilmore Dynahi project and I have purchased the boards required for this amp.

Now the hard part is getting together a list of all the other parts required (case, electronic components, power supplies, heatsinks, attenuators etc.) and making a group buy possible.

If anyone else is interested in getting together and making this a group buy we can save some $$$ and have all the parts we need without getting confused.

Check this thread for details : http://www5.head-fi.org/forums/showt...2&page=1&pp=25

Estimated cost of parts = $500.00

Could be a lot less via group buy.

Raise your hands if you are interested

i know i am buying enough parts for 12 boards and i have it to $50 per board... 100 per dynahi....... then the cost of the power supply

this does not include the heatsinks or case

500 seams like an awful lot though

Well, here FYI the top costly items in my Dynahi parts list, shipping included:

Condor Power supplies: $140.00
Elma Ladder attenuator: $105.00 (including about $20 for all resistors)
Board components ~$100.00
Case $97.00

That's already $422! On top of that you have to add the less expensive items, which add up quickly:

All internal wiring
Aluminum angles
Heat sinks
Input RCA connectors
Power cord
Power inlet
Power switch
Power led
Volume knob
Headphone jack
Fuse holder
All bolts and nuts

Used an excel file, my current expenses for the Dynahi are closer to $550 than to $500, and I still need the signal path wire, so in the very end it will most likely be around $600.

Since you are quite experienced with buying electronics parts online would you be interested in taking an active role in sourcing the components?

This is shaping up well. With at least 5 and hopefully 10 interested parties we can get some decent discount on parts.

Cheers!

ahmose.

Parts per board X 2 X Number of participants in the meet = what we need to buy

I will be happy to handle the monies and shipping etc. but I will need help sourcing the parts. Once I have the part numbers and the source then I will proceed with calculating the cost of parts + cost of packaging + cost of shipping.

In the case of the power supplies - alliedelectronic or someplace - Someone who does NOT have a local presence should handle the order so that we dont have to pay taxes.

Cheers!

I may be interested depending on cost etc...

Raul (rsaavedr) suggests that it is wise to choose what components will fall under the group buy.

* Electronic passive/active components will be under the group buy
* Power supplies might be under the group buy
* hookup wire will be under the group buy (if we all agree upon one type)
* Cases/Attenuators etc. may or may not be under the group buy because the savings is insignificant and there may be losses due to shipping costs etc.

Any ideas?

Consider also that the power supplies are massively heavy. Even saving taxes, the double shipping will be costly in general. If you don't get a discount large enough that offsets the final shipping for the # of psu's you eventually reach interest for here, then needless to say, probably you shouldn't consider power supplies in the groubuy.

Does everyone feel that we should only get the following under the group buy :-

* Passive/Active electronics components
* Power supplies (subject to economic analysis)
* Hookup wire
* switches / RCA jacks / LED / Power Socket
