Ok. Thank you everyone for the replies. I think I'm going to search the FS forums for HD580s and K501s. Just 1 more question, Does anyone know how the K501s sound with the ASL MG-Head MIII? I know it doesnt sound great witht the k701s.

Thanks

I am trying to spend as little as possible, preferably under $300, but I can go over if absolute necessary. I don't know much about it, but I am almost positive that I do not want akg k701. My dad has a pair and I have tested them with my tube amp, and I did not like the pair. I am not looking to buy a new amp.

Thanks!

325i's with the right setup would be excellent for jazz IMO.

So, I am looking to buy the HD580/600, K601, or the K501. Which one out of those would work best? And how do the AKG models sound out of an ASL MG-Head MkIII?

The grado's I've listened to and had have had good bass weight, but it could be the source and amps I have used. I haven't heard the 225 but the 80's and 125's bass is IMO quite decent for most music.
