Geshelli J2S DAC and Sparkos SS2590 - YES!

I agree that the SS2590s are the best all-arounders I've tested, although I have not considered Staccato, Sonic Imagery Labs, or Weiss ($$), nor would at least some of those physically fit. When it comes to op amps, size is an issue. I feel where Burson excels is in providing the best options in the compact size category.

For those with a J2S and the Erish 3 Pro, do you recommend using SS2590s in both? Or V7 Classics in one and SS2590s in the other, etc.

Really curious!

In both devices, they are used in high gain positions where they have a large influence on the sound. Electronically speaking, it wouldn't hurt anything to mix them. Sonically speaking, I would use the same for homogeneity. If you have extra op amps laying around, swap around and you can be the judge.

I use the Burson in XLR slots and 2590 in rca slots
I did the same when I was running the J2S, as I wasn't interested in the convolutions required to get the 2590s into the XLR slots in the J2S. However, I've since moved to the J3, so it's 2590s across the board now. I'm liking them better than the Bursons (I had the V7 Vivids), but it's a subtle difference to my ears.

If anyone is looking for cheap Burson V6's, Parts Connection is the way to go.

On my j3 I do the XLR with the Burson v7classic going out to the Erish 3 and I do the rca with the 2590 going out to the foso v3.

I often do swap them just to add new flavor.

On my speaker set up I have the J2s and I do the same. I switch out for different flavor. I hear the differences much more on my speaker set up. I still hear the differences on headphone set up for sure but much more on speaker set up. No idea why, never really looked into it. But I love that it does that.

Since there is no thread for JNOG3, thought I would post my custom music DAC with Sparkos.

Well this thread got me excited to play with my J2S when it arrives. Fortunately I pulled a trigger on a used 4499 J2S with the standard opamps, that will be a perfect canvas. I love the way that huge SS2590 looks ) And having different types of opamps in 1 case sounds like a bag of fun

Thank you everyone 🫡

It's clear what Geshelli had in mind when designing the J3, and they were wise to do it. That combo gives a very high level of performance at its price point.
Do you think the J3 offers much more than the J2S with 4499 and SS2590? I have only the 4493 and 2590, so am considering an upgrade…

The J3 brings an updated USB module, larger power supply, and of course, the convenient input switching buttons. For a J2S with the 4493, I would look to upgrade to the J3 if the rest of the system can deliver high resolution and a generous soundstage. I feel the AK 4499EX is presently the best delta-sigma chipset.
