Showing Geshelli Labs some love. Love the sound and the form factor. Perfect for those warmer sounding headphones like ZMFs.

Does anyone know if there is a “secret menu” for internal upgrades for the Archel 3 Pro? EX: Does it have dual SS2590 Sparkos op amps on all outputs, including the RCA pre outs? Or do you have to request it when ordering the amp? Are there any other upgrades that could be done to the internals?

Op amps come in single (1ch) and dual (2ch) versions. The website says only that the unit comes with "dual SS2590 op amps," which I can interpret in two different ways. This may refer to two single SS2590s used as part of the amplifier circuit, in which case it wouldn't make a difference which inputs were used. You should email Geshelli to get clarification, as I find nothing particularly helpful on the web (info@geshelli.com).

Or if someone has one (unfortunately, I do not), if they'd be willing to slide the board out of the case and take a picture or two, it should be very obvious whether it's a single or dual stack.

Are you asking if the opamps are single opamps or dual? If so they are dual. On the J2s and J3. On the Dayzee they are single.

If you’re asking about the amps the opamps in the amps are not socketed, they are not replaceable.

Its dependant on your chain. Ive tried my J3 with 2590s on Erish 3 Pro & Archel 3 / Wells Audio Milo / Nitsch Piety & Maxmium Pietus.

And I would not say its too smooth and laid back but my experience is using Modi 2 Multibit, Bifrost 2/64, Cyan 2 and using Eversolo A6 DAC. Its one of the better DAC offerings at the price and if chained properly can be one of the most powerful, open staged and dynamic DACs on the market.
Which one do you prefer: the J3 with SS2590 or the Schiit Bifrost 2/64?

TBH, I enjoy both.

2/64 is on the warmer side of neutral
J3 is on the colder side of netural

2/64 is an r2r dac vs J3 sabre dac

So its dependent on my mood, headphone I am using, and use case.

Gaming - J3
Movies & Music - 2/64

And there is nuances there.

Just to clarify:

The Bifrost is a multibit DAC - switched transistors on a chip, no (R2R) resistor ladders.

The J3 uses an AKM 4499EX chipset. "Sabre" is a tradename for ESS Technology chips. Both are delta-sigma DACs.
Yes, thats my bad. Thanks for the correction. I have way to many equipments to even know the proper specs & terminology anymore.

Still my listening impressions stand. 2/64 is warmer and has more body. J3 is more analytical and open. Pairing them with different amps and YMMV.

I agree 100. I had both and liked to switch back and forth between the two. The Schiit sound and Geshelli sound are great to pair for when I want to hear one or the other. I’ve since upgraded to the Schiit Yggi OG and Dayzee and still have those two as my main dacs. Different dacs with the upgrade of course but similarly great to have one Geshelli and one Schiit at the same level. Those two companies always pair brilliantly especially with those sparkos

Exactly, they compliment each other and thats what I have setup in my office on my computer rig. CYAN 2 DAC is in my main listening room.

At the end of the day you cannot go wrong with either.
