Went for the "superlux" cable on my 8.35, dt 150 etc (most headphones that i use ) So that i can run one cable to the dac/amp and just swap headphones. Also this is much better when it comes to storage.

Nice!
Stock pads, you like them better than the Brainwavz?

I still need to hear a pair of DT150-250's.

  Hey guys,
I want to get a new headset and I wonder how the German Maestro GMP 8.35 D  compare vs my Amperior?
I plan on using these paired with iBasso DX80

Headset as in with a microphone? The 8.35D does not have a microphone i'm afraid.

I have not listened to the Amperior but i owned the HD25 for a while..The 8.35D is more neutral and has better comfort, the HD25 is still a really good headphone. I'm not sure i can recommend you getting a pair of 8.35s, you would be better off with an open backed headphone or something with a completely different signature than your amperiors. It's funt to have a "few" to swap around depending on the mood you are in or what you want out of your headphones :)

I can, if you like your sennheisers soundsignature but want more.
I owned the hd-25 for 10+ years, still do with new driver in the mail to replace the one i killed.
The 8.35 is similliar but more :)
Deeper bas, cleaner mids, for lack of language more realistic higs.
Separation between notes, placement. So soundstage(?) is bigger.
Heavy cable is the only downside, easy to fix with a clamp of some sort,on the plus side it feels like it's indestructible.:)

On the other hand ,I agree it's fun to own diffrent sounding headphones but they can empty ones wallet fast

Hello everyone,
this is my first post on HeadFi.

I recently bought German Maestro GMP 400, for the moment I am quite happy with them (I also have: HD600 in balanced mode, DT880 250ohms, SR60i, I had / tried at home: T70, DT990, HD650, AH-D2000, T50RP MK3 ). I find them much more airy and less dark in comparison to HD600s, with very good and forward mids and great overall detail, particularly in the upper bass region. They are built very well with a plastic that looks also very durable and they are very light to wear. The negative point is that they do not adhere well to the head around the ears (I have a small head) and they do not clamp enough.

My question: since I have a Pioneer u-05 Balanced dac / amp, I would like to know if any of you guys ever tried GMP 400 in balanced mode. Is the internal cable set up for this? I wrote to German Maestro, but they just told me that they do not make the mod

I would like to keep the stock cable and would like only to change rca plug with a Neutrik 4 pin XLR ... In summary, I would like to know if it's worth it.

Thanks

Thanks

I can only speak for the 8.35D but they are not set up for balanced since it's just one ground wire. Since they do not sell any balanced cans i would assume this is the case for all their headphones.

Well they must have seen this thread, they have just released the GMP 8.35 Mobile, and the GMP 8.35 Mobile Advanced, the Mobile comes with a standard 3.5mm detachable cable, the Mobile Advanced comes with 2 cables (one as a spare) and also a set of velour ear pads: http://www.german-maestro.de/Englisch/Products/Logic/Headphones/

I just got the Mobile version in so I will be revisiting my GMP 8.35 D and update it a little.

So first I changed the single sided 3.5mm connector to 4-pin mini XLR like Audeze cables, but they are a little bulky and where german maestro put the 3.5mm socket in they trim the plastic that holds the driver in place. This meant that the driver was not very secure with 4-pin mini XLR sockets as they put pressure on the back of the driver.

So I have changed them to dual 3.5mm sockets with brand new cups from German Maestro so I could drill the correct size holes. Turned out really good:
