So who here likes their older albums?

I'm surprised to not find much mention of them on an audio forum.

Either or is fine with me. I haven't heard of all their albums yet.

The only Genesis album I have that Peter Gabriel is absent on is Wind and Wuthering and thats a good album.

I only like their older albums. They are playing Madison Square Garen this August and it was rumoured that Peter Gabriel was and Phil was going to play drums with Chester.

You should give Foxtrot and Selling England by the Pound a listen. They're both from the Peter Gabriel-era, and are their best two albums, IMHO.

Edit: Wrote "Genesis" when I meant "Foxtrot". Doh.

I have Selling England by the Pound and it's a great album! I haven't heard their self titled album yet so I'll give that one a try.

The self-titled album's actually the peak of the Phil Collins era, 1983. I've only got Selling England By The Pound, and it's a pretty good album. The first and third tracks are excellent, but the rest of the album kinda lets me down.

Seconds Out is a good live album

And don't neglect their first live album. Very powerful versions of "Watcher of the Skies", "The Musical Box" and "The Knife". I'll add in votes for all Gabriel era Genesis, especially Selling England and Lamb.

Personal favourites are Trespass, Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot. LOTS of good music to be had in the Gabriel era and a couple of solid efforts with Collins, too.

Anything prior to Abacab was great.
After that forget it, Phil turned it into a cheesy pop band.
Trick of the Tail was my 1st and made me a fan.

Lamb Lies down on Broadway is a great concept album which wound up with PG leaving the band. Trespass and Selling England by the Pound is another. Seconds Out is a good live album without PG. IMO, the band went downhill after Wind & Wuthering.
