Out of the box it was bass light. After 12 hours of burn in, the bass has filled out some, but the sub-bass still needs more oomph.

Yes, out of the box.  With burn-in it has transitioned away from mid-bassy to a more balanced sound.  Sounds quite nice, somewhat similar to the old Denon D7000. Anticipating a bit more sub bass with more burn in.

DHL sucks. It took 3 days for my Purplehearts to leave NJ. If they used USPS, UPS or Fedex I would have had mine last week already. Last update was that mine are still a state away, but estimated to arrive today.

Not only DHL, but DHL Mail, which is the absolute worst shipping option in the US. FEDEX Smartpost and UPS Surepost are both horrible as well. There is no excuse for not shipping via a Ground or Priority Mail service for something this expensive.

Mine still show as "Pre-Shipment information sent to USPS"  since last Friday with no updates.... I'd much prefer to pay an additional amount and have my headphones in a reasonable time frame with reasonable updates... Heck they drove right past me to get to Atlanta...

If it helps any, mine haven't even shipped yet and I was in the first thousand or so to order. The last I heard from Massdrop was on 8/5, with an expected update on 8/12. 8/12 came and went and I heard nothing. I gather they are going to wait until they all ship before giving an update, but the order processing seems to be happening at a snail's pace.

"Pre Shipment Info" just means that the shipping label has been printed.....it may not even be affixed to an actual parcel yet. (well, by now it may be) Not just Massdrop, this applies to all mailers AFAIK.
 
I have no "insider information" to suggest this, just my observations on my own many, many orders from online retailers over the years.

I was well within the first 250 orders (around 205), and so am entitled to the "low serial number" group...and MD hasn't shipped mine yet either :/
 
I won't be truly worried until the 19th though, the way I see it they're still earlier than projected.

Got mine today. Pretty good, but coming from the fantastic Yamaha MT220s I'm not yet giving the Fostex praise. Hopefully some burn-in and perhaps some EQ can turn these into a real winner. Good soundstage though thanks to the music separation and headphone design, as even with a midrange boost I still hear good width.
