Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

I think the X2 is overall better than the TH-x00. It's been a while since I had the 400i, but I wouldn't necessarily consider it an upgrade over the Fostex. The He-560 is an upgrade IMO, but listen to it first to see if you like it.

<$500 category I think you are looking at some really good value leaders, but it's probably gonna boil down to usage requirements and personal preference Brosef.

what make you said "I think the X2 is overall better than the TH-x00." Don't get me wrong I love the x2.

Not directed at me but I own both and if I was forced (at gunpoint) to choose.... the X2 would come out on top for me as well.

Reasoning as follows:
1) X2 mids are more upfront and linear but TH-X00 may be ever so slightly more resolving on some tracks
2) Love the soundstage of the X2 on a per dollar basis
3) Velour is always more comfortable to me than real or man-made leather
4) Both are easy to drive
5) Neither isolate well
6) X2 is a true all-rounder in the genre department, TH-X00 is close but not quite as versatile

Hi,

Im currently using Custom One Pro which I like the bass and treble.

But then it has been like 2 years, I want a good upgrade! More to EDM which is bass and treble. Good soundstage will be a big plus!

Im now wondering about Ultrasone Pro900 whether it is good enough for the bucks. Some reviews compared with Fostex TH600 which most of them will say the TH600 is clearly the winner.

TH600 is too expensive for me. $500 and above is no no. Suddenly found Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 which is $399.

Is this gonna worth my bucks? with my EDM and current songs. Can beat those Ultrasone and TH600?

THANKS IN ADVANCE. REALLY NEED HELP :D

Pro 900 is amazing with edm and electronic. To me, that is. The x00 is also great with edm, but the pro 900 has some magic with edm that I'm just addicted to. The x00 is more versatile and you can use them as an enjoyable all rounder. The midrange is a good deal improved and more upfront. I love the imaging on the ultrasones, I guess their s logic works for me. But yeah the bass on the fostex is great as well.

I've always been all about edm, and for this, I don't think you can get much better than fostex and ultrasone, so your looking in the right direction. They both aren't scared to incorporate awesome bass in their headphones. I've tried lots of headphones like many here, but I enjoy these immensely.

Fostex x TH-X00 cost 2x as much as the X2, What. I have not listened to the Fostex x TH-X00, but I don't see it as that much of a upgrade. It's unreasonable in term of price when compare to the X2 price. I would rather save up and get the hifiman he-560

X2's bass impact while enjoyable and solid is not in the same solar system as the TH-X00.  The X2 also doesn't handle stringed instruments as well... I would really recommend it for fans of Grado that want to remember what sub bass sounds like....

You haven't heard it, but yet it's not worth it, because it's not much of an upgrade?

You should probably hear it before you decide it's not worth the price.

Never been much of a believer in "ratings" scales... just numbers pulled out of someones hind end but maybe this will help: http://www.head-fi.org/t/723025/philips-fidelio-x2/8970

my post is at the top

Edited:  The bloom I mentioned in that post has significantly lessened with head-time on these cans.

That's more than I paid so the the value rating would be even lower.  At equal/similar pricing I feel the TH-X00 is a much better choice

A quick comparison, so X100 bass is much better than my current Custom One Pro? I use Fiio E17 btw
