Interesting. The only link I found on it is here: http://stereo.vn/theo-xu-huong/fostex-ra-mat-th900-mkii-tuy-chon-cap-balanced-co-the-thao-roi.html

Genius move by Fostex to come out with a new version of their flagship soon after their highly praised TH-X00. Now I feel even worse for the people itt that chose to buy the TH-900 over the TH-X00 lol

Like Beyer T1 V2 and Sennheiser HD800S, they will probably fix some problems with the headphone, mainly some peaks in highs. It might be only a 5% difference, but it would make me buy TH900 again. I loved TH900, it is an amazing headphone, if only it didn't have those peaks in highs...

Ps: Shouldn't this thread be in Summit-Fi section?

Some people seem to hate the new connectors - I personally like the idea of having a balanced option.
I'd like to hear this on something like the Liquid Carbon, which prioritizes the balanced outputs.

Yeah, I saw that in the link above.  I'm one of those people that likes to hear the phones before I buy them and also appreciate reading a few reviews and user impressions before I pony up that kind of money.  I've got the MkII on my short list but since I have never even heard the MK1 I'm going to have to wait a bit longer.  And I'm impatient.

I am pleased that they are moving to balanced connectors available.  I have an LC and while I'm not convinced about SE versus balanced Cavalli says the LC is better balanced and Schiit says my Gumby (MB) is also better on balanced connections.  Who am I to argue with the developers?

I have the TH900 right now and love it; I've had it quite a while. I've modded the cables - it's not hard to desolder the cables from the drivers and put anything you want in, including balancing. You just need to do a little more work, and it's not obviously removable on a daily basis without a bit of work. From the website, the specs look the same on paper - 25 Ohm and 100 dB/mW efficiency, with a 1.8W max power on the driver. They may have tuned it, but by the description it could just be the same driver with removable cables - the description is basically the same as well for their components. We will see though.
