Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread

Well, differences can be stark. For instance the best use of material is moonstone treated pure cryosilver which removes the ringing completely (caused by erratic unstatic fluidity of particles) because it treats the whole fluidity issue like the "graetz problem".

Moonstone crystals are for body and health. Stop listening to them and rub them in your palms and think positive thoughts.

Have you tried an eye patch instead of winking. I'm curious to know before I make the investment.

Well it would depend on what the eye patch is made of.

I wasn't using my TH900s too much lately but I've found a new love for them since I started using Tidal streaming. For whatever reason, there's a synergy there, with tighter bass, fuller mids, no glare and sweet highs, and some can't-describe musicality that's just right.
A combination of continuity and texture in vocals and sustained notes. System Windows PC(w/Tidal)-->Chord Hugo--via USB 3.0--> Stealth interconnects-->Rudistor RP010B amp-->TH900.

Any one knows where one might try the TH900 in NYC?

Based on everything that I've read, I'm considering buying the TH-900 or Senn HD 800.

Unfortunately, I was yet to see the Fostex in the wild, and would love to give it a listen before making a decision.
It will be quite helpful if there's a store (or perhaps fellow head-fi user?) with both pairs so I can A/B test it more easily.

I saw that BH.com sells both, but it appears that only the Senn is available in the store, while the Fostex is online only.

It would be even better if it was possible to test them both driven by an amp and by phone directly.

Any ideas? I'm not interested in doing a buy/return act, since I believe that it is not a good practice.

I would just get the TH900. I like it a lot better than the HD800. It's more musical and the HD800 is just not something you can warm up to. They are very, very, different phones, and the HD800 is difficult to amp well, and can sound plain bad with the wrong amp.
Your chances of getting the TH900 to sound right are much better with the TH900.
