yes. I use the HM5 hybrid pads on mine.

Might be better pricing on amazon, so check there.

Was there any significant changes to the sound of the TH900? Or is it just more of a comfort thing.

Comfort. I just got a second set of rings, which will allow me to swap pads faster, which will aid in rating pad effect.

I'm looking for some connectors that will fit the TH-900.  I want to use one of my current custom cables and replace the connectors it has on it.  I've purchased a pair of Furutech FT-2PS Sennheiser HD650 connects but they do not click into place and come out easily.  I think the connectors will come out pretty easily when there is any weight on them.  Has anyone had luck with other connectors and the TH-900?  Can you buy the bare stock connectors anywhere?  I don't want to spend $299 + for the stock cable and cut those off.

You can carefully trim the plastic on the Senn connectors to make the pins longer.  Ted Allen did that for a headfier, read it somewhere here with a picture.

Thanks for the links.  Do these allow the the connector to click into place like the stock TH900 connector?

I've been comparing the Furutech to the stock connector on the TH900 cable.  What the difference is is the smaller top portion of the connector extends further on the TH900 connector, and there is a ridge on the front face of the connector instead of the sides like HD650 connectors.  You can see in the picture below(FYI this is not my photo), of the Furutech FT-2PS, what would need to be removed.  It is circled in RED.  The light blue dotted arrow is where the ridge is on the TH900 connector.  I'm not sure if I can get away without the ridge on the front. I'll have to purchase some less expensive connectors and experiment.

@jerik70, Thanks for the post.  Good work, and keep at it....this can help us all!

This morning I took the Amazon cable I linked for you....I cut the connectors of at abour 4"....then soldered mini xlr's, making sure to get the polarity correct.  My aftermarket cables are all terminated mini xlr.  The connectors from the Amazon cable don't click, but they stay in just as tight as the stock TH-900 MK2 cable, so I'm good for now.

I'm using my best aftermarket cable now and I am very pleased with the sound overall!  Using my Denon AVR 4800, 150wpc into 8 ohms, black background, TH-900 like power but you would need to watch the volume when switching headphones.  Everything very dynamic with lots of detail, more neutral mids, tight bass, lots of air that has always alluded me with other headphones.  I have other pads coming, Dekoni, ZMF Eikon, Mr Speakers Electrostat for some comparison.

I could stop right now and be happy!

the Furutech not going well. They are the same as Sennheiser HD600 / 650. They have a double step. I linked the connectors have only one step and are identical, such as measures to fostex original.

I got my TH900 back from my local dealer, who sent the headphones to Fostex to have them repaired (the speaker/driver in the right ear cup simply died). And guess what...they still don't work.

Yet the dealer claimed otherwise. I was waiting 6 weeks to get them back and now this...
