Works for me to.  A good old fashioned (dry) anti static cloth gently after every 2nd / 3rd use.

Is there any kind of brand you like to use? Or would anything off the shelf from some place like Fry's be ok? Any precautions when it comes to using/buying these cloths?

And what kind of maintenance do you do on the cloths themselves? Do you wash them or just buy new ones whenever you need it?

There's really no requirements for cloths lol. Any microfiber cleaning cloth would do. I use one that's used for glasses. Just give it a wipe after wearing it to keep it nice and clean.

Well... I've had some cloths ruin a pair of my glasses before, so...

I am about to get a TH900. As I prefer a mobile setup, I wonder how the TH900 will pair with a DAP like the AK100 II or something similiar. Any experience here or thoughts about alternatives to the AK100 II?

Thanks!
Dirk

The headphone pairs well with higher end desktop DAC & amps, but doing this mod

would do more than switching portable DAPs.

So I decided to do the shelf liner mod on the TH900 after starting to get hot treble after purchasing a Burson Soloist. So far initial impressions are good... The treble is a bit more tame without affecting too much of anything else. Thanks to @Thenewguy007 for mentioning it in this thread.

I purchased this circle cutting tool to make it easier:

I used the shelf liner previously mentioned in this thread:

Some tips:
  1. Take off the ear pad first, then take off the white ring by turning counter-clockwise.
  2. Try your best not to put strain on the bolt connecting the earcups to the headband while you're manhandling your headphones.
  3. When you put the ear pads back on, make sure the line on the ear pad is aligned correctly. Thin part is on the front, thick on the back.
  4. This is completely reversible.

This is the TH600. But same concept. Make sure the area where you see the seam on the earpad lines up with the silver screw. This makes the thin part of the earpad the front, and the thick part the back.

Here's what they look like after making a perfect circle. Measure out the size of the circle using a ruler.

FYI, I have a friend that recently purchased a TH900. So I will eventually compare the modded version with the unmodded version. Stay tuned.

Hey, so i decided to up my budget to around 1000$ for an amp/dac, how does the wa7 firefly sound with these? Would the fostex hpa8c be better?

IMO the TH900 pairs nicely with Pioneer U-05-S! Truly worth an audition! :)

Is it supported in the us? I couldnt find anything on it. Looks interesting though.

Sorry, I don't know! Sounds strange if it is not supported in the U.S though.

If the budget was for DAC only, I would have recommended the Metrum Musette or Schiit Gungnir Multibit, perhaps also Resonessence Concero HD.
But then try the Concero HP, or the Furutech ADL Esprit, or the Fostex HPA-8 (if on a good deal), or the Marantz HD-DAC1.
Or a used Chord Hugo or Naim DAC-V1.

I am about to purchase a JDS Labs Element from a fellow headfier, but before I make my final decision, can anyone that owns a TH900 recommend a dac/amp that will perform similar to The Element but without the hiss as some of eluded to. The TH900 are very sensitive to hissing and so am I. I want a black background if possible. I do have limited time as I am in need to provide an answer on The Element at some point today. Any advice would be appreciate.

TLDR: Non hissing dac/amp with similar specs of The Element to drive my Th900's.
