My OEM earpads have started flaking too. They've only started flaking after 2 years of use which is an acceptable lifetime to me and I'm going to continue to use them until they truly fall apart. I agree with jmills8 that the original is the best.

With the dekoni sheepskin not hybrid the change in sound is very little
I tried the hybrids and just did not like it. Isolation and leakage are probably improved but I did not care for the change in sonics. Sticking with the OEM pads.

Thanks for this. I might give these a try since Dekoni has a nice return policy and will take them back if I don't like them.

I don't know. Aren't OEM's about $100 for the pair? That seems a little crazy for 2 years. I guess it depends on how often you are using them during that 2 year period. I can say for me I don't think I got close to 2 years before flaking started and the TH900s weren't even close to being my daily drivers. I have a sweaty head though so I'm sure I just cause more wear on them than others by nature.

How did the hybrids change the signature that you didn't like? Anything specific you can point out?
I bought a new pair of original earpads after about four years. They were pretty disgusting at that point, though.

Try press the cups toward your ears a little, if you like the sound, MrSpeakers’s electrostat ear pads is the way to go.

+1 for the Dekoni Sheepskin pads.
The leather has a really good quality with a nice touch and the sound is quite close to the original pads.
I honestly never liked the touch of the softer fake protein leather of the original pads.
With the Dekoni Sheepskin pads i'm very happy.

Nice looking amp. I use mine with a tube amp, an Icon HP8 Mk2. I think they go quite well with tubes.

Can the owners of the Fostex TH-900 please & kindly test their TH-900 and their other favorite headphone for immersive single player gaming on this short youtube clip? I need to know which headphone has more RUMBLE when I shoot the cannon and more WEIGHT to the air when I do melee strike (whoosh whoosh effect). I have to make a decision today for purchasing.

I don't find the sample really helpful.

had a listen with my TH900 Mk2 but found the Sony MDR1A sounded better for that sample

Thank you very much! I am very shocked to read this.had a listen with my TH900 Mk2 but found the Sony MDR1A sounded better for that sample
Sony MDR1A-m2 or m1? And what do you mean by better? More bass rumble to the cannon shots? The air has more weight when doing melee strikes? Voice of the speaking robot? Overall more immersive on MDR1A?
The original MDR-1A and all of the above sounded better
