When you push down on the shaft, the silver screw like thing, can you feel it recoil or bounce up and down?

No bounce, but I did take the whole cup/hanger part in my hand and I can see the silver pin slightly move back and forth. My right ear cup does not have any play at all... what does that mean??

Besides going around, does ot affect the sound ?

I would say no. But this is how they've been since I got them roughly 3 weeks ago. So I wouldn't know the difference. This is my first dive into high end headphones.

I have a pair and one side does move more than the other. My other three th900 doesnt seem to have this. Not a issue for me.

Like You can wobble the cup back and forth?
I had a situation once where I can wobble the cup a little and it turned around very easy but not 360 like yours. I tightened the tiny screw under the hanger, the screw that goes into the shaft. But that requires taking the cup detaching so I can reach it.
I don't know how handy you are and I don't want to tell you to do something that might make it worse. Just my speculation.

The earcup fell off the metal band. Was it like this when the item arrived? You should contact the seller.

This is a used unit? You should put out a warning for that seller in the "Buyer/Seller Feedback Archive".

If it is either the hanger or shaft problem, they aren't cheap either, like $61 just for the hanger and $20 for the shaft. Not including shipping.

Thinking about it. He did sell them at a good price, and with Lawton pads. $650 total. He's been with the forum several years, not sure I want to raise a big stink about an issue that doesn't effect the sound quality. I'll think it over some more. Look into repair costs and such.

Might as well contact fostex if you do... they have two locations listed on their site for the US. You'll have to send it to them and pay the premium...but itf it's not bothering you and no affect on sound ..you can leave it be...

Did he state the problem in the For-Sale thread? If he did not, then you should warn the others.Thinking about it. He did sell them at a good price, and with Lawton pads. $650 total.
