Fostex TH600 Dynamic Headphones

I personally used a Pan Am with a DIY ES Sabre DAC. Clean, spacious, neutral DAC with a tubey amp worked great for my TH600's.

General rule of thumb with these phones, they work better as an all-rounder with tubes which bring out the midrange and tame the highs, but much punchier and sparkly through solid state amplification.

Nice setup. You need to try the Chord Hugo one day. Sound very impressive with the th-600.

Just received the brainwavz hm5 spare earpad. it looks similar to the original earpads but the stuffing seems lacking :frowning2:

I'm a hat size 8 1/8 and have zero issues feeling pressure.  Idgit is right, a bit more would be good actually...

My brother might get a paid of these. He's going to amp them from a macbook pro retina. Just wanted to ask you designbykai how high on the volume you needed to get up to for fun loudish listening? He will get an amp later.

Not yet, but I intend to one day. It's quite expensive and if it's bassier than the th-900, it might not be for my preferences.

How would you decribe TH600s sound? Compared to Senn HD650s for instance?

I've never heard the Senn's but I can imagine they are more mid forward and don't have that tight bass of the Fostex.

I have a HD650, I personally do not like the neutral sound and looking for that sound I think I exploit a driver.
What do you prefer, for everyday use on a PC with a good sound card and amp. A Philips Fidelio X1 or Fostex TH600?
