Thanks, I corrected my post. I have a CNC milling machine at my work, so I'm going to make a pair of them myself.

But is it correct to say that the main difference between the TH600 and TH900 are the wooden cups? (And the bigger magnet of course)

Yep, think that's it. Do you have a CMM or something to draw/model the cups?

  I'm an expert Solidworks user.

Okay, that sounds arrogant, but it's true. :)

The program to use and to be an expert in.   Keep us posted on what your progress is.   We have a 3D printer I've considered printing some cups with................

Am I right in assuming that the stock pads on TH-600 and TH-900 are identical? If so, how do they compare to the Denon AH-D2000 stock pads?

Got the DM Source today and the D2000 work quite well with these. Can't wait for a Fostex now.

The TH600 sounds great with the Source.

Yeah, I can totally see it. It's between the TH-600 and TH-900 for next headphone purchase. I'm really hoping I like the TH-600 more for my wallet's sake. Anyone know how LCD-2 compares to these two?

Mids:
LCD2 trounced them with its's luscious mids, as both the 600 and 900 are known for the recessed mids.
I chose the 600 over the 900 as the 600 has more low mids than 900 that gives the vocal more body whereas 900 has more upper mids.
High:
LCD2 is a bit dark for my taste, and the treble are kinda roll-off to me.
This is where the 900 excels over the 600. 900 has a smoother yet well extended high. In comparison, 600 sounds splashy and rough.
Bass:
Bass is a matter of preference as these cans are very generous, quantity and quality of the low end.
But comfort wise, 600 and 900 for me anytime. I just can't get pass the half-hour mark with the LC2 due to its weight and clamp

I've relatively recently just picked up these cans and am driving it off the Fostex HP8C and find their detailing as excellent. These cans are a little weak on the bass I find when coupled with the HP8C, but as these headphones are pretty easy to drive, I can run them on my Fiio E17 portable amp and eq extra bass, and they sound phenomenal. I'm so impressed with the TH600's I've ordered their big bro TH900 which hopefully will land with me next week :) http://bit.ly/1oCBs9L

^ or should I say, the TH600 mids is not as luscious or as forward as LCD2. The LCD2 mids can sound a bit thick though.
IMHO of course, as we all have our own preference and hear differently and I'm hearing my TH600 through the source I listed in my signature below.
