I read through the thread here, and couldn't find out whether or not the Shure 840 pads actually clamp in place on the Fostex T50RP's or if you need to do some tear down construction to get them on. Any idea on whether or not the 840 pads clamp in the original earpads place?

Thanks,

Other pads often used are the HiFiMAN pads and the HM5 pads.
The HM5 pads, as well as the 840 pads, need to be stretched a bit. The HM5 pads need a lot more stretching.

I have 840 pads on right now but they have a tendency to slip off.  The leather on the ear-pad "flange" is pretty soft + the outer plastic cup of the Fostex is angled.  So it doesn't grab very well.  Is there anything to use to help the 840 ear-pad grab the ear cup better?  Something tacky?

I couldn't get HM5 pads on my Fostex.  I stretched them a ton (thought I did anyway) and couldn't get them on.
