I commented on his (Gadgetry Tech) K7 review, I mentioned that he had the i5 on the desk and asked if there was a review coming, he commented back saying that his goal was to have it out by the end of the month so hopefully today!

Super Review is not trustworthy. How the people can believe that the first headphones of a remarkable brand will be absolute garbage erasing the treble spectrum? Please

What? His review isn't even out yet and you claim this... I don't take any sides, but when it comes to measurements, Super Review has a lot more accurate rig compared to PFS's MiniDSP EARS, which stops being accurate after 2 kHz. Let's just wait for more reviews.

I wouldn't trust a word coming out of PFS' mouth and all the rest of the subjectively oriented reviewers, even if some of them do present measurements.

I detect three main problems in all the presented i5 measurements:
1. Bass deficiency (especially for a plannar).
2. 500 Hz to 2kHz unevenness.
3. Ear gain region deficiency.

What people believe is irrelevant to the discussion. This headphone is an OEM sold by Fosi. Though they produce fine electronics for very competitive prices doesn't mean they'll make fine headphones or even choose the right ones to put their name on it.

He just posted his review and said he probably expects them all to sound the same, like the Meta tuning. Please.

Overall, it gets good reviews, but it feels like it was developed for specific genres.

Just receive the Fosi i5, which I have very big expectation about even if it's very first headphone release from this company.

This is due to my addiction to open back planar which get it's apotheosis with Hifiman HE1K V3. Big cups tend to promise big headroom, and let just underline i5 has even bigger cup than HE1K. Pads are thicker too so your ears are less near the driver. Interesting thing too: pads are holded with velcro so it's easy to swap....yet there no extra pair included (would have been nice if so)

I was afraid these would be too heavy or thigh or uncomfy but its super comfortable and i don't feel the weight on my head, unlike Hifiman Ananda nano, the cups swivel to shape to your head and it's a big plus imo as well clamping force is light but steady, more so than HE1K.

When it come to sound, ill need to test it longer and with less warm source than Hifiman EF600 but headroom is indeed very wide and tall, panoramic with great focus on mid range and vocal, smooth overal balance, just slightly V shape since we have proper mid bass punch which benefit music style like R&B and soul...i love female vocal of those its lush and blossom wide, it's loud too without being sibilant or harsh since attack is a bit softened, it's not super abrasive, its not an agressive sounding HP, its warmish in fact, mids benefit vocal andd saxophone, live music sound particularly good, transient as expected with planar is excellent and permit wide holographic multi layering with overall relaxed macro dynamic. Its less bright and shouty than Ananda nano, less dry and thin in timbre, not as detailed and analytical, not as plain technical sounding so way more musical to my ears, headroom is like 2 time bigger as well....

anyway, needd more listen but for now musicality charm my ears. ill focus on technical performance for next post.

Sounds tempting to me, specially with the Early bird price.
Just sad that we have to wait until august. Would like to compare them with my HE-6 😊.

Not a guy that love taking selfie (edit erase) but i sacrifice myself to show how the i5 look on bearded human head. Those are BIG and its no mystery, pics on kickstarter show it too, this is good news for people with big ears like me since pads don't press on any part of my ears and surround it comfortably. As well, i have some issue with Hifiman HE1K that have a gap affecting perfect seal when press on the head, this is due to less thick pads, here seal is full wich mean bass rendering improve too. Bit more punch pressure.

I prefer this pairing of Hiby R6pro2 bal out to Kaei Tap1pro+ Burson V7V, sound less warm, notably cleaner crisper than with EF600 r2r dac-amp.

Again headroom is an highlight, but im kinda guy sensitive to upper mids harshness-sibilance or loudness and here it hit sweet spot for me, Elina Duni sound smooth, velvety and wide and enveloping in presence, it's all but compressed and their a natural, organic timbre, we have a bit of euphony goodness with i5, mids are clear but not coldly sharpenen, nor grainy in timbre, nor dry, it's laid back, not agressive. Transient response while speedy have soft attack lead, which mean piano note are not sharply define, but have long note release. In other hand, Percussions has extra attack energy that add extra sens of layer and cripsness on top, so we have a uniquely smoothen W shape balance where mid bass is gently thumpy, speedy and weighty , bass line are vibrant but not deep nor resonant, sustain is more boosted than release in this case, mids are center of the show, wider in presence yet well centered too, then highs are mostly smooth and lean up to this extra energy peak that permit percussions to have enough air around them and enough attack snap to permit a good mix of macro and micro dynamic balance.

Those i5 aren't analytical nor very bassy, nor very bright, its laid back open lushness and technical appeal is mostly in fast multi layering, effortless yet not sharpen imaging, soudstage size, above average sens of transparency and treble attack control. Holographic musicality lover will find those immersive i think.

and BIG yes, early birds price is a great deal.

forget to show the cable, here its 4.4mm balanced and these are very nice qality, thick but flexible...ill sure use these for all my Hifiman now (way better).
