Not Carl, Gene. Plans for 2016 I think. Wants to have a US driver - but also wants to run shop out of the US which is total fantasy.

Hey, wait, I think that's been tried before:)

Repeating the same actions and expecting different results is the clinical definition of what?

A) Insanity

B) Having more money than brains

C) Thinking you have more money than brains

D) All of the above

None I think. His US team is doing good. He has dedicated wind tunnel. He can use some technology and manufacturing resources in US. Design and some other stuff can be based in Europe.

Yes most drivers in F1 has gotten sponsor help to get their first F1 seats :)

Yes but that is quite a different story from using family money to buy a seat outright. A sponsor paying the way expects return on that money and that means you have to be able to perform. Daddy writing the cheque carries no such obligation.

Lauda did it on family money, but it was a one time payment from his father in lieu of any further monies and he gave up his inheritance rights. That turned out fairly well for him.

I thought I remember Lauda saying in an interview that his father pulled the plug at the last minute so he took out a loan against his life insurance? Either way, if Max was another Niki I think we'd have seen something by now.

Well the examples I made was as much pay driver as Maldonado so there really isn´t much of a difference. The difference is that they impressed more obviously so could later get out of the pay driver niche. There is a reason why Maldonado despite his money is not in a Ferrari already :)
