Kammerat Rebekka

This one takes me back 30 years. Played it to death and still know every peep and sonic gesture by heart.Been decades since I listened to this album. At the time it was one of my favorites while @ U.C. Santa Barbra. (still is??).

I love everything about this album, and considering the fact that Lou really can’t sing makes it even more fantastic that it comes off the way it does. One of those live masterpieces of the 70s, much credited to the band playing. Wagner and Hunter’s interplay is immaculate and together with all the new parts they made for both Sweet Jane and Heroin it really helps send these pieces into the stratosphere. Add one coked up Lou Reed and you effectively end up with Rock n Roll Animal. Fire music.
I’m listening to one of my favourite new artists in Die Wilde Jagd and their new collab with Metropole Orkest Lux Tenera; a vast open sounding mix of ambient with modern classical though on here funnelled through Die Wilde Jagd’s unique glassy and psychedelic filter. The music is grand, enormous, “quiet”, oddly naive melody-wise and then packed full of real instruments like brass, acoustic guitars, pianos, strings and the human voice. Feels like the soundtrack to a great movie.
Went for the AR5000 as it’s been a while.
