For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Life In The Wires (2024) by Frost* - I've been looking forward to this album, which dropped here at midnight and eight hours later I finally got around to listening to it - too busy sounding out Bring Me The Horizon and forgot all about it. The man behind the band, keyboardist Jem Godfrey is more well known as a pop song writer and producer but his first love has always been prog, so he talked John Mitchell into joining him on vocals and guitar and the newest album features Nathan King on bass and sees the return of Craig Blundell on drums. This one's a double album, so plenty to get your teeth into and from what I'm hearing (13/14) it will be getting a lot more plays on my system. I thought this one called for the A Team so it's Cyan 2, V222 and Arya (still flip flopping with the HD800S) and it's sounding mighty impressive.

Starting an extremely foggy and otherworldly friday off with the appropriate music; Morte Macabre’s Symphonic Holocaust.
If you’re a fan of symphonic rock or of old school horror soundtracks and could do with a (somewhat) modern take on the music, there is simply no better.
Smorgasbord of mellotrons coupled up with lots of prog touches either by way of the delicious drumming or the King Crimsonesque booms of bass.
The music reeks of dusty cobwebs, creaking doors and a theatrical Nosferatu-like presence…though captured in a way that sonically resembles sound from the insides of an old wooden cathedral.

Off to Dublin for the second Watercooler meet in Europe, will come with some nice impressions under way or after. While I look forward to try gear, meeting some friends there is even better 💯

@sygnus21 mine and @pataburd issues were of a different nature so please do not mix those cases. We are often using products from niche manufacturers in this hobby and because of that you may accept some risk or inconvenience. If you would ask me if I am happy about purchasing Nuprime transport the answer is yes. Would I prefer to have it still working, the answer is still yes. Did it provided the functionality and sound I wanted: still the answer is yes.

Another HPs example: Audeze have QC and build issues yet I finally bought MM-500 since I've been missing LCD-1. Does it make sense - no. The Audeze topics are full of pictures how those cans break apart depending on particular model. Yet if you would ask me for a particular sound signature I may recommend MM-500 to you while pointing out all the risk associated with such purchase.

You are welcome mate! :)
Ditto for Schiit Audio and their history of QC issues.

SD Card > Poly > Mojo 2 (tuned to be Mojo OG) > Meze Advar

This is awesome, thanks for the rec👌
Was in the mood for some psychedelic soul myself but went a little more left-field with Algiers.
This band merges the two seemingly odd bedfellows of post punk and soul into something very unique….or maybe it’s industrial gospel? Either way this really shook my world when it first came out. Incidentally, their newest album is called Shook.

Looks like I'll have to send my headphone amp in for repair as the left channel statics during volume changes. The odd thing is it only happens on balanced headphone (4-pin XLR) out. Single ended is dead silent. Doesn't affect playback, only when changing volume. (and yes, I did say stuff breaks (alekc, petaburd)).

Anyway, currently listening to Saturday Night In San Francisco (Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, Paco DeLucia). This is the second night to the famed Friday Night In San Francisco live show in 1980 (album released in 1981) but this one was never released until 2022. Material wise, I like this one better, though Friday Night is also good.
