For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Qobuz > roon > HoloAudio Cyan II > Violectric V222 > HiFiMAN Arya Stealth

dysergy.JPG

Dysergy (2020) by Golden Caves - Found this Dutch crossover prog band while letting roon start up roon radio after another album finished, I really liked the sound and went to investigate. This is the second full album from the band who are fronted by the very impressive female vocalist Romy Ouwerkerk who has one hell of a voice. Being crossover prog there is a definite pop influence but they can definitely rock when they need to.
I'm still using the Aryas as the love affair is still very fresh and the more I use them the more I like them and they certainly like being driven by the Violectric with it's slight warmth and strong low end and I am yet to find a genre they don't sound great with.

Another in line: "waiting for full release" straight from bandcamp. Those who love Nirvana Bleach or Nevermind will truly enjoy currently available track Hello, Everyone (99-00 Demos)

ifi micro iDSD Signature > Meze Advars but I will later switch to mojo 2 and Focal Stellias. @JAnonymous5150 should listen with MM-500 (I know I will do it when I return home) and some tube amp

Will do. Thanks for the rec!

For now I'm still on the Audeze LCD-4s, but I've switched over to the Burson Soloist 3XGT and Schiit Yggdrasil MIB for the signal chain. I want to do some comparisons between the Ferrum stack and the Burson regarding the aforementioned driver control when paired with the LCD-4s.

On deck in my wee hours queue is Uncanny's 2024 release, Shroomsday. Absolutely killer instrumental prog-metal on this album which is my introduction to this band (I'll definitely be checking out some of their other material. Lately I have just been tripping over killer bands and albums on Bandcamp like it's going out of style and I'm absolutely lovin' it. The musicianship and technical prowess on display on this album is really something else and I'm only a few tracks in. I simply must post this to the Prog Rock thread. Highly recommended by your's truly! 🤘😎

I got my wife off to work, handled some business calls I needed to make and headed out to the shop to get some tinkering done. I've got a new bass drum pedal design I'm working on and I'm also going to take a whack at changing my AKG K812s and K872s to balanced mini 4-pin XLR jacks like I did with my K702s and Q701s. Naturally, I'll be doing some listening while I work so I picked one of my new arrival IEMs, the Dunu Glaciers, and plugged them into my A&K Kann Alpha. I've been wanting to try the Glaciers for a while now so I'm stoked to hear what they're all about.

Atop this morning's musical carousel queue is the instrumental version of Transit Method's may release, Othervoid. This band's sound is an interesting blend of punk, metal, and prog and it makes for some fun listening. I don't know of another band that sounds quite like they do. 🤘😎

Now that you say that, I feel like Iay have asked you before. If so, I apologize, but the woodwork on it makes it such an appealing piece. I love unique wood furniture so cool examples tend to catch my eye. At least now we know you have solid taste outside of audio...😜

Topical Content:

Moved on to the Audeze LCD-4s through the Ferrum Oor/Hypsos stack with the Holo Audio May KTE pulling DAC duty. This will be the first time I run the LCD-4s off this signal chain and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how the Ferrum stack does with them. The LCD-4s have a low end that can lose some of it's bombastic power and articulation with an amp that doesn't offer adequate control of the driver and because of this I've found them to be surprisingly amp picky. That said, the Ferrum normally kills in this aspect so I'm really anticipating some great synergy.

For the occasion I'm going to listen to what should be a fun album that's totally different from my other listening material lately: Popular Monster by Falling In Reverse. This album literally dropped at midnight and I can't wait to hear what Ronnie put together. He's a friend of mine that I met when I was hired to drum for a band that was touring with Escape The Fate (his previous project). He and I share some similar troubles from our past and we bonded a bit over that. His music is often sarcastically funny and his persona is definitely an over the top caricature of himself in real life. His tracks often make me laugh, but they also show how seriously talented he is as a lyricist. He's one of the most dynamic life performers I've seen in recent years. If you're a fan of post-hardcore with obvious rap/hip-hop influences and biting wit, give Falling In Reverse a listen. Here goes nothing... 🤞🤘😎

Sounds right up my alley! I'll have to check this one out tonight. Thanks for the rec, bro! 🙏
Don't like rap/hip-hop and don't like metal core BUT I'm really enjoying this - Good rec :L3000:

The temperature has dropped, and I can have headphones on my head again without melting 👌
I've spent some time trying out EQ on the HiFiMAN HE1000, and I think I've found something I like. Puts the vocals/midrange a bit more in focus and adds a bit of bass. Not large changes, but I think it suits the set.
Tidal, Roon, Fiio R7, Schiit Bifrost 2 and Aune S17 Pro handles the signal to the headphones

Went with some rock to clear my head after finishing my speech to by dad and his wife for their 70th birthday party tomorrow. That stirred up some emotions and Evergrey helps me get that out of the system before going to bed. Theories Of Emptiness is the album.
Sounds fantastic with the added focus on the guitar and vocal 🤘
