For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

I've spent a little time over the last year collecting all fifteen discs in the "Just Can't Get Enough - New Wave Hits Of The 80's" collection by Rhino Records. I had most of them from back in the day and finally filled in the blanks.

Last night, I finally finished ripping the discs and then normalizing all the metadata so its nice and regular.

All so I could put together a play list with 240-some new wave tracks that I can shuffle forever.

This YT playlist has some of them, but not all, and not in order:

It's New Wave night at my house!

Ogg Vorbis rips of CD -> Modius -> Lokius -> Jotunheim -> ATH R70x -> my head

Taking a break from the bassy headphones and moving to a nice palette cleanser with the Hifiman Susvaras running off the Ferrum Oor/Hypsos stack and the Schiit Yggdrasil pulling DAC duties.

Up next in tonight's queue is Motorpsycho's 2014 effort, Behind The Sun. This is my favorite Motorpsycho album. From beginning to end, it's chock full of sick tracks that put their songwriting and musicianship on display. This is one of those albums that doesn't come across as being very technical, but has a lot to notice that hides just under the surface, coming through just a little bit more and in different ways every time I listen to it. Definitely worth a listen when you get the chance. 🤘😎

Sphere (2019) by Monkey3 - I've been led astray by @YtseJamer in the prog-rock thread again and have spent the night listening to the catalogue of Monkey3 albums and am currently back on this one as it's pretty awesome. Monkey3 are a Swiss instrumental rock band and they are very, very good at what they do - I may be visiting Bandcamp or Qobuz again soon. The RS-1x allow the guitars to sound just right, with a nice bit of crunch and attack. Surprisingly they even still sound great when the music goes into "wall of sound" mode and that's surprising because the Grados usually get a little shouty when that happens - but not here for some reason.

Youtube (I can't help it, I love music videos) > RME ADI-2 DAC FS > Phonitor XE > Cardas Clear > Fostex TH900 (currently rotating with Sony MDR-Z1R / Abyss 1266 TC / ZMF Atrium Closed Redwood all with a SubPac S2 for bass focused music).

Son Little "6 AM"

I'd never heard of Son Little until I saw this posted by Alboxhen over in the Fostex TH900 Impressions thread. It's got a really great mellow but uplifting R&B vibe... can't get enough of it.

Qobuz > Burson C3R > LD MK3 > Grado The Hemp
Lush, wild, weighty, organic - not exactly reference sound, but rather enjoyable with the right music.

Mannequin ***** - I Got Heaven

Edit: Band name got censored by the forum software... :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Tidal > iPad Pro > Cayin RU6 > Focal Elegia (custom pads). A unique Caribbean/Latin sound. Heavy bass with lots of drums. Intimate vocals.
