Joshua Redman leads a band with Brian Blade and other solid jazz players thru cuts with a focus on various cities. Interesting, but not edgy - except "Stars Fell on Alabama" which goes modal. The big news here is Gabrielle Cavassa. She swoops through the material alternating between delicate, funky, and warm. A real talent. On my HE-500 and my ProAc Tablette with ribbon tweets (DIY post).
Heart Land Mines Vol.1 (2023) by Dave Kerzner - More thanks to @YtseJamer for the recommendation, I've been a fan of Kerzners for a while but didn't know he had a new one out. He's a vocalist and keyboard player in the prog rock field along the lines of Alan Parsons, he puts down the rough tracks and then brings in the pros to do their stuff, this time including solos by Elliot Randall and Randy McStine (he gets around a bit). Loving the warmth of the Asgard 3 and the D7200's without losing much in the way of details - Great sound, has my toes a tappin'.
@BS5711 one of the best albums of 90's grunge era Hard to say which track I like best, and there were very few albums with so much integrity, Mudhoney Superfuzz Bigmuf and Nevermind by Nirvana comes to my mind.
Absolutely amazing album, that unfortunately not available on the streaming services, so I don't think many know about it. Available on Bandcamp.
A great vocal and a cello is all that is needed Bethany & Rufus - 900 Miles
Bandcamp app on the Fiio R7 (16/44). Onto SMSL DO100 and then into Tor Audio Roger, which blows a bit of warmth into the HE1000 Stealth
@Lindholdt agree Thanks for posting this one. First I listened to in on my mobile from bandcamp and after less than a minute I've purchased it. Best spent 7 bucks recently! After download I've been listening to it on my speaker setup build around Rockna WaveLight. Great instruments and vocals. Can't wait to have a peaceful listening session with headphones during weekend. This album will love some tube goodness.
Installed new pads on the HD650 yesterday and doing a proper listening session with it today.
This combination where too midrange/upper bass focused before, but now it's more enjoyable. Still a bit much, and I do think I'll end up liking the 650's better on the V200.
But the stock pads was a step in the right direction for tonality
I do feel these have more of the "3-blob" effect, sadly :/
That doesn't make Joe Satriani any worse though R7 to SMSL to Roger to 650's.
@alekc glad you like it as well, it's one of those hidden gems that needs to be told exists so more can enjoy it.
Dragonfly Cobalt, HD700. Just got some new Dekoni pads I'm enjoying. Got a crescent strap for my 6XX too. Best decision. No more hotspots with that one.
