One Of A Kind (1979) by Bruford - In 1978 Bill Bruford assembled several musicians to create his first solo album and afterwards they decided to stick together and became a band (Bruford) and this is the first album by Bruford the band, not Bruford the person (I hope you're as confuddled as me). The band in question was made up of Bill Bruford on drums, Jeff Berlin on bass, Dave Stewart on keyboards and the amazing Allan Holdsworth on guitar. I just had to change to the RS-1x for this, it's what they are made for, Holdsworth's guitar runs just send a shiver down my spine, he really was a guitar god!
I've found that the 3000x with the OTL is hit and miss. I'd say that about 90% of the time it is fantastic. But every now and then the bass sounds muddy, and out of control. I chalk this up to the recording quality (I could be wrong). When things work with the Espressivio/3000x combo it's amazing. Sound stage is huge (compared to my other HP's) with a lot of "air" with just the right amount of bass slam (right amount for me of course!)
As most of you are aware by now, I listen to a ton-crap of progressive rock. Floyd, Genesis, just to name a couple. This particular album, 44 Minutes by Millenium, keeps drawing me back in for more. I think I've probably listened to it more than I have DSOTM. IMHO, it's one of the best recorded progressive rock albums ever produced. If you're into this type of music and love sweet guitar leads with some soothing sax, I highly recommend you give it a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by just how amazing it really is.
I was once near Space Needle in Seattle on their live performance... can't forget it...
Testing AES connection from Rockna Wavelight Server to Rockna WaveLight dac. This makes upsampling and dsd256 impossible so I am left with my rips of CDs.
Rockna WaveLight Server (AES/upsampling disabled) > Rockna WaveLight (NOS, hybrid volume control, volume set at 80) > AuroraSound HEADA > Focal Clear MGs
In theory I should be listening to some jazz, blues, live instrumental or classical album using Meze Empys with HEADA but god how good this Focal setup sounds. No Clear metallic sound. Pure joy. I know that MM- 500 could be even better for this album.
