@jonathan c @pataburd @gimmeheadroom yet the new Hegel Viking replacing Hegel (the last) Mohican is a slot loader. I've spoken with Hegel representative from their HQ some time ago, and he confirmed thet couldn't source tray loader mechanism that would suit their needs and fit the quality build requirements so they went with slot loader one. Overall it was one of better AKM dac implementation I've heard so far, and it is great CD player in terms of SQ. Unfortunately I can't tell you how it performs in headphone setup. For a transport I wouldn't waste that much money thou.@gimmeheadroom & @pataburd , interestingly …. the new Audiolab flagship - 9000CDT - features tray loading (and a garish display screen, when on).

Flagship, our ass! Don't piss down our racks and tell us it's rainin'
Here it is, fellas. Top o' the world, Ma. Top o' the world https://www.audiolab.co.uk/8300cd/
8300CD back panel (yeah baby, yeah!)
9000CDT back panel (just no)
@gimmeheadroom I would never choose 9000CDT over 8300CD. Period. I think that Audiolab has a problem since 6000CDT is so great especially at this price point. Hard to beat it.

I didn't realize there was a transport-only 6000. But the 9000CDT looks like it should cost about 250 euros.@gimmeheadroom I would never choose 9000CDT over 8300CD. Period. I think that Audiolab has a problem since 6000CDT is so great especially at this price point. Hard to beat it.

JRiver MC > SMSL SU9 > Schiit Asgard 3 > Beyerdynamic DT1990 pro
Too Hot To Sleep (1988) by Survivor - My favourite Survivor album and probably the most underappreciated (only reaching #187), it's a step back to their rockier early days and deserves a lot more recognition. There are some really good tracks on the album such as She's A Star, Too Hot To Sleep and the juggernaut that is Burning Bridges, which is one of my favourite tracks by anyone, any time. I think Jimi Jamison has a stronger voice than Dave Bickler (Eye of the Tiger) and he uses it to great effect throughout but really lets loose on Burning Bridges. Frankie Sullivan's excellent guitar work is as always the driving force with some very tasty solos and breaks dotted amongst the songs. The Beyers do a really nice job with the album, plenty of low down grunt (I use 3x 1.5db bass shelf EQ @ 120, 80 and 40Hz) and the vocals and guitars sound great to my ears - Only problem I have is I keep on turning up the volume!

HiFiMAN Sundara is in the head today, due to a nice bass discussion with a fellow member. It's a great headphone for the price, but the HE1000 has spoiled me for too long now

I'm using my Focal Clear MG Pro with Elex pads since og pads are worn. These are so nice and I'm using them for music and gaming as well. I think these are my favorite headphones aside from the Focal Clear OG.

Tribit XFree Tune via PC Audio
These are fine sounding cans and great for acoustic guitar and John Lennon's voice.
