Qobuz > E70V > A90D > 7hz Timeless
At these temperatures, IEMs are a godsent and the Timeless are still excellent and synergize especially well with the A90D.
Caroline Polachek - Desire, i want to turn into you
The Motor City Mad Man! This album features Meatloaf on vocals. It's one of my favorite Nugent albums for sure.
The Grado's are definitely doing Ted's guitar some real justice by highlighting his awesome and very unique playing style.
Guys, look what I got me NOS on eBay. I just put them through some of my favorite tracks. They obviously don't sound great, but I ain't no snob who forgot my rooty roots.
They sound more than good enough to make music enjoyable in a peasantly way, ha-ha! I have +2 on each band on the Mojo 2, and the bass dial at minimum, since it muddies up the signature too much for my liking.
The bass is more thuddy than thumpy, the mids are a bit honky up top probably due to the horrible ear torture pads, and the highs are dull, but they still present most of the littlest details.
They sound surprisingly wide and non-claustrophobic for being on-ear cups.
I think with some good subtractive EQ they'll liven up nicely. They're not as good as the amazing for the price Superlux HD 668b or HD 581 I own, but they used to cost over $100 BITD. I paid $40, so it didn't sting.
EDIT: If you can imagine it, they sound exactly like they look!
My favorite Nugent album by far.
The K340 is the queen of my crop when it comes to stereo imaging. Ted's dueling guitar leads pan from one side and then go through my head and out the other side. Mere mortal headphones just don't have the same ability to do so. K340 Electrostat-Dynamic System (green driver) stock < Luxman R-113 < Loxjie D30 < Amazon Music HD
The Q701 require plenty of juice to make them sound pretty darn what some people might call good. They were definitely a great headphone in their prime. They are still quite enjoyable even for today's standards. They're a true classic with a unique wide soundstage that really deliver well with the right type of playing. Genesis fits the bill just right.
JRiver Media Center > Schiit Modi Multibit > Schiit Vali 2 w/mullard 6DJ8 > Grado Sr325x
Twice Removed From Yesterday (1973) by Robin Trower - His/their first and still my favourite, even though I have twenty eight of his/their albums. The mix of Trower's bluesy and soulful guitar work and James Dewar's equally soulful vocals is something that captivated me as a 16yr old and has never let me go throughout the 50 years that have followed. I picked this album out because I had already chosen the Grado SR325x and the Schiit stack, I was in the mood for some serious tone. The SR325x don't really follow the popular idea of how a Grado should sound, bright, detailed and bass light - the 325x has plenty of bass, beautiful mids and pretty well behaved highs and when you put something like I Can't Wait Much Longer through them something magical happens.
Classic, live horizon-stretching rock continues with Grado PS2000e << Linear Tube Audio MZ3 !! This time it is the 33-minute Mountain Jam by The Allman Brothers Band! There! There! There! .

Just enough juice out of 4.4mm balanced to fill out the HiFiMans and give them soundstage, and something about the R2R DAC that's really easy on the ears.

*** musicality . Not just easy on the ears - but easy on the brain: less subconscious effort trying to convince oneself of the veracity of the sound being reproduced.
