AC/DC are probably the single weirdest looking band without trying that ever existed. They have some of the most unique and weird facial features I have ever seen combined into a single musical group and, thus, don't need costumes and other gimmicks to qualify. Great band though!
Today, I'm back on the AKG K340s this time plugged into the Ferrum Oor/Hypsos stack with the RME ADI-2 pulling DAC duty being fed bit-perfect, hi-res audio goodness in the form of locally stored files.
I wanted to expand the scope of musical genres I have been listening to on the K340s to give me a better idea of the strengths and limits. Right now, I'm listening to the London Philharmonic Orchestra's recording of Holst: The Planets for a couple reasons. First, I love the piece and it's always a fun and energizing orchestral listen. Second, Holst uses a lot of dynamic flow and juxtaposition in order to define the moods and "characters" that create the musical identities of each planet, making this piece a pretty ideal way to see how well a pair of headphones renders dynamic contrasts and nuances which is something I value highly in a set.
I would recommend this recording of Holst's works in particular because I think the LPO does a fantastic job imbuing their performance with the requisite energy and mood needed for this piece to come alive and I think this verson and the version recorded by the Los Angeles Philharmonic are the two best mastered/recorded editions I have heard. In a genre (orchestral/classical) that's too often associated with being overly serious and stuffy, LPO's effort on Holst: The Planets is light-hearted fun with no less orchestral mastery than if they were to be playing Bach, Mahler, or any other legendary composer's seminal works. Highly recommended!
P.S. See? I told you guys I don't just listen to prog...
I think it's because Octave Records is a very small label, and I don't believe that any of their releases are on streaming services..? Just a guess on my part.

I found the linkI can't find that album on Qobuz or Apple Music for some reason. Listening to Brand New in lieu and wow. Amazing. Can you give a link to that album?
