For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

I'm still out in my workshop listening while I tinker with some ideas for improving this case. I wanted a little more of a laid back experience for a bit so I pulled out my Edition XS and plugged them into the modded Schiit Lyr, MMB2, and Wiim Mini signal chain. I also put the MMB2 in NOS mode which adds an extra bit of smoothness and musicality to its overall presentation. The ability to switch between NOS and DSP filtered modes on this DAC is really an underrated option and great call by the guys at Schiit. When I first got it I figured I'd pick the made I liked best and it would probably stay on that mode from then on out. Well, the filter is really well done and I do use it most often, but I actually switch to the NOS mode with relative (and unexpected) regularity.

On deck in my queue is Pomegranate Tiger's 2013 debut album, Entities. After recently discovering this highly technical instrumental prog-metal outfit, I quickly listened to their two most recent albums, but my sesh was interrupted before I got around to giving this first album a listen. I've been meaning to get back to it, but for one reason or another I haven't. Today I'm enjoying the high energy prog-metal sound so the mood is right to go ahead and remedy the situation. If this one is at all close to the standards set by their successive work then I'm in for one heck of a ride!

To those about to rock, I salute you! 🤘😎

Early morning on Aful P8

Full beaut of an album at

https://songwhip.com/heilung/drif

Reccoed by @Terriero (haven't seen you in a while here, boss. Hope all well).

Thanks a lot, is wonderful when someone remember you when listening to an incredible performance like that :beerchug:

I'm still here, I decided long ago to don't take part in the forum to don't get tempted by new headphones, but I have my friend Kammerat Rebekka via PM for that issue :relieved:

Lately, I've received the Moondrop Chu IIs, a great rec by the dane mentioned above  A very good sound for very cheap money... And now I'm thinking in the 620-S...

Listening to Domi & JD Beck’s Not Tight; somewhat of a curveball in the contemporary fusion landscape much due to the terrific drumming. There’s an almost programmed hip hopesque beat to his playing and then again it sounds very natural and sprawling.
Coupled together with the childlike melodies of the keys and Thundercat bass lines this music is really unique and captivating. I thought I’d spring for the AR5000 as it really can do nothing wrong and has a natural quality to it that really suits this album.

@Terriero please come join the thread now that you’ve got more headphones to chose from:)
…and you will probably end up with a couple more😛 This is a dangerous place…

Caribou - Honey

been awaiting this album, the singles are far clubbier than anything he has released under this alias.

edit - this was a really delightful album, had me smiling the whole way through. if you like electronica or club music, check it out.

Hey! Glad to see you around 👍
Fully understand the move to cut down on forums, as it really can lead to a lot of impulse/excessive buying 😬
Just visited your lovely home islands last week, have to say it again: You live in an amazing place 🌴♥️

On-topic:
As this will be the last listen for tonight, I turned to something a bit slower. A guitar, floor bass and drums, just jamming out, all excellently recorded and mixed. Sounds very "live" like, to my ears 🎶
Still on the Fiio R7, RME ADI-2, TA-26 and HD800.
The album is Flowmotion by Vestbo Trio 👌

A lot of folks got their panties in a twist when psych rock guitar wizard Steve Hillage teamed up with his girlfriend and went all techno on us. Looking back it actually makes pretty good sense to me. Having frequented the electronic scene - y’know the underground one that takes place in forests and weird off the beaten path beaches, there are a fair few things that remind me of Woodstock, hippies and laissez faire lifestyles. The music is just slightly different and people dance…a lot.
Then again most of System 7’s music basically revolves around the oozing electronic qualities of Gong..it’s only evolved into something with beats and infinitely more swirling and danceable.
I’m back at the bumblebee aka Onkyo A800. This thing is a blast! Like an ex who is way more attractive than how you remember her😅

Spending some time with the DCA Expanse running off the Ferrum Oor/Hypsos and Holo May KTE decoding the coax out from a Wiim Pro. I have a lot of great gear that I genuinely enjoy for all sorts of different reasons, but jumping on the Expanse with the main rig always brings a smile to my face because it feels like coming home. 👍😎

This evening the queue is serving up more The Fierce & The Dead with their 2023 effort, News From the Invisible World. Some of what these guys put out reminds me of a slightly more low key and British version of QOTSA from the Songs for the Dead era. It has that same sorta vibe, with just a bit of the reckless energy/edge taken off it. I'm still making my way through their catalog basically at random, but this one is definitely a favorite thus far. 🤘😎

Edit: BTW @Skev, the Audivinas have been ordered as of about 45 minutes ago. Looking forward to hearing what you're diggin'.

Haha! I understand. I also left, unwatched discovery thread (though for some other reason) but its side-effect has been a drawing down of a pleasant thick curtain on the daily churn of new goodies. Currently, in couple of threads whose products am eying (aful Cantor and such...) . My main frequented thread remains this music one.

This doesn't hurt at all, only enriches my everyday life! So please hang on here and enjoy/contribute!

And on topical front

Some Gothic metal on Miroak2

Oh nice! 👍 getting a bit nervous now in case you’re in the camp that think they’re trash 😂 nah, it’s all good to try different things, i hope you find some enjoyment out of them. I still do love them. Unfortunately on holiday this week and left them at home. Will give me a good little break to then rediscover them!

[Columbia: recorded January, 1985; released June, 1985.] One of the great jazz albums! For me, this is Wynton Marsalis at his ionospheric peak -- along with his colleagues!
