Same set-up as before:
Ananda v.2 w/Dekoni Elite fenestrated<--4x 22AWG UPOCC solid silver cable<--SMSL SP200<--Topping D50s @32/384.
However, have repositioned the Ananda's earpads to be lower (from 3 notches to 5 notches down along the headband) and shifted slightly forward (with zero tilt).
To my ears, this achieves near "perfect" sound-staging: larger scale; less (overly) tall and more wide, with height and width in more mutually equitable proportion than before; deeper and with a subtle "surround" effect to the lower rear right and lower rear left.
The synergistic effects of aftermarket cable + Dekoni pads + pad repositioning have proven positively transformational for my Ananda listening experience.
Focal Elegias > Feliks Elise / The Beatles - Help! (Mono-vinyl). This copy is nearly 60 years old and sounds like it. funny thing is, I grew up listening to this copy, so my brain is totally used to the surface noise. It just seems sort of normal. Is that weird?
Do you use a mono cartridge with your mono vinyl? I have found that surface noise drops quite a bit vs using a stereo cartridge with the amp set to mono (if possible). [I have the Parlophone edition of Help!]
HD-CD on CA universal player into SMSL SU-9/SMSL SP 400 feeding a hungry set of HiFiman XS..... Ohhh this is BIG bass on BIG drums (large dynamic range)......listen at your own risk...wooohoo..I'm also slightly crazy

I don’t as I only have a small handful of mono recordings. The surface noise is mostly due to the abuse the LP endured at my hands so many years ago. Same with most of my Beatles albums.
