Clear OG . . . <--SMSL SP400 . . . <--SMSL D400EX . . . <--NuPrime CDT-8 [NOS]:

[Time Warp, Erich Kunzel, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra; Telarc Digital 1984. Currently queued: Stu Phillips' "Battlestar Galactica Main Theme".]

The NuPrime CDT-8 Pro [restricted to non-oversampling due to its incompatibility(!) with the SMSL D400EX--or, more likely, vice-versa] sounds excellent. The Shanling ET3 is waiting in the wings. Will audition the CDT-8 Pro with a few more pairs of headphones before re-introducing the ET3. [I really need to make a simple shelf.]

Still exploring...enjoying> Audiolab CDT9000>AudioQuest Carbon optical>Burson Conductor 3X Reference>Sennheiser HD800S

It's not very recommendable for sensitive ones since I am not; it's a cool combo.
It's razor-sharp, HD800S brings that softness, and there are no piercing highs; also seriously deep, not shallow, with the right music...bass kicks.

Neneh Cherry Forever! :)

Cheers!

This evening I have the Hifiman Edition XS running off the Schiit Lyr (Reflektor 6n23p tubes) with the Modi Multibit 2 decoding the optical signal from a Wiim Mini. Gotta love having wifi on the bus. It makes killing time on the road and a million other things so much easier and more convenient.

For music, I've got a healthy serving of some neo-soul on deck in the form of Family Company's 2022 album, Contributions. This album is just the perfect chill, laid back listen for me while I'm sitting in the back of the bus working on modifying a drum pedal I just picked up. The funky bass lines and muted guitar rhythms supported by some swingin' drum beats makes for an album that always gets my head bobbin'. Definitely an easy rec. 🤘😎

Very much! The sound is amazing, but I can't say whether it is better or worse than any other...

The build quality is just great.
The drawer moves smoothly, too.

The finish and the feel are great; it's pretty heavy and looks way better in real life than in photos.
I was sceptical about whether I would like the display, I thought it might be a bit too much, generic...but I love it now.

I really wouldn't ask for any better.

Cheers!

Such a sick album! This is my favorite album from The Black Keys. They're definitely one of the best bands out there.
